I find some teachers that do care. Others, not so much. I am currently attending Livingston Academy. I am enrolled in honor classes, and I do play sports at LA. LA can be a good school. Though, I do not think that enough attention is placed in the right direction. The office is very unperfessional and needs to be taken under control. We do get treated like adults if we act the roll. Which is very appreciated. Thanks. But sometimes certian individuals need more attention on their maturity level and less attention on trying to treat them as an equal. The hall ways and class rooms are very full. And the school building needs ALOT of attention.

I thought this was the worse school every and i advise parents that have special ed kids to take them to a different school. The teacher is great. its the kids that are mean to them and the people in the office don't do a thing about it.

I see alot of Negative energy about this shool. The 'former students' that wrote such bad reviews probably were not in the honors programs, or had the right teachers. Academically, we have gotten much better, sports are high here, but no where higher than anywhere else, and with the music & arts, blame that on the teacher, they really need a new one. This school is great, sure you can send your students to some other school, but then you wouldn't get our 1 on 1 teachers actually do not move on until everyone gets whats going on. Also the fact that by your Senior Year every teacher can call you by name, we are like one big happy family here.

With only a handful of exceptions, the teachers have a generally apathetic attitude toward educating the students. Open book and multiple choice testing is the norm. Little to no essay style or critical thinking tests occur. Entering college I found myself totally unprepared (particularly in the area of mathematics) compared to the other students. Favoritism for members of the various sports programs in order to keep their GPA above the required minimums for participation is apparent. Preferential treatment for other students is also obvious. Everything is under-funded with the notable exception of the sports programs. Teams will always have equipment and facilities in excellent condition while science, art, music etc. fall by the wayside. Parental involvement rarely extends beyond attending sporting events. The school building itself is old and overcrowded. I find it very hard to recommend this as (or even call it) an educational facility.

Livingston Academy has a great athletics program and that is about the only thing i can say is great. The Arts and Music programs are neglected due to the heavy sports sentiment in the school. The academic level itself is substandard compared to other schools of the same size with many students transferring from Livingston Academy to other schools finding themselves unprepared and behind academically. The parent involvement is in many areas nearly non-existent including parents not being notified when there are disciplinary issues at the school and students being allowed to leave the school grounds during school without authorization from the parent. Students are not encouraged to join extracurricular activities and in some cases discouraged due to the elitists attitude of the school in general.

I think your school should be more concerned for the students saftey than you are. For instance, who you let them leave school with. You need to do something about that.
