I wish I could give negative stars because they don't even deserve the 1 star that I was forced to give them! Here is a prime example of the nonsense that goes on in this school....my daughter came home with a test...I use that word lightly because all "tests" are only 6 MULTIPLE CHOICE questions long!! Anyway, she had missed 1 out of the 6 and her paper was clearly marked as follows: "-1 100%" Really? If you are reading this and do not understand that there is no possible way to miss one and still get 100%, then this school should be perfect for your children. My child has learned NOTHING this year.....no, wait, she has learned all about S*X and how to curse people out and get suspended. Way to go Eagleton. I think the only one with any sense at all is the Assistant Principal. But, his load is too large to carry on his own. If you want a real clear picture of this school, visit the State of Tennessee website, find the school and check out it's report card. What a joke. Thank goodness we rented in this school district first and didn't buy a house...I cannot wait to move far away from Eagleton and everyone in it. And if I were you...I would stay far away to begin with!
To the grandparent who wrote about her granddaughter failing... This is a tough age to make the children care; however, I disagree with your statement that the "school has offered no help." We offer tutoring in all subjects two to three days a week, and during lunch break. The help is there, free of charge...
My granddaughter is at EMS and we (her family) can not get her to care about her grades. She is failing. We are trying to find additional help for her, but her mother is a single mom of 2 and there just is no money for paid help. The school has offered none.
I am a student at EMS, and I love that school. The teachers are nice, all the students are wonderful. I couldn't think of a better place to send a child. :)
EMS is an amazing school.I love it.But people are getting into too many fights and some teachers are too strict on rules.
I'm a 6th grader at EMS.Its a great school.I think that in L.A/English there is way too much homework.I'm really against reading logs and the online book tests, but StudyIsland is great. It helps your grade if you make a bad one.Other than that, everything else is great.
I am a student at EMS. Now I do have to agree that I think the kids with all the money get treated better, and that the students' parents who help out alot get treated differently(better). But you will get a very good education there.
This is probably the best middle school ever. They help you so much with school. Teacher are really cool there. I love this school. It will always be my favorite. :)
I am the secretary and love my job.... Our principal, shug hutson, is a wonderful person and a great principal. It makes no difference who you are or what your parents do or don't do...If you do something wrong..Mr. Hutson deals with it and does it in a fair manner.... You mess up... You pay for it... EMS and it's staff are the best and I hope thing changes at our school for many, many, many years from now....
I attended Eagleton as a child. Both of my children went to Eagleton after they had been in the city school system. It was a wonderful experience at Eagleton. They both had a wonderful learning and social experience there. I read the review about how having money made a difference in how you were treated at Eagleton. We did not have that experience. I had divorced and lived on one income. We were far from having money. My daughter and son made friends that they still see today. My son played sports there and has continued on to college. My daughter and her husband are looking to sell their home, and buy where their little boy will be in the Eagleton district. It was a great experience for our family.
I am a former student of EMS and now attend HHS. All through my years there(6-8) I was treated like i was stupid. The students were great but the principal, Mr. Hutson is biased against incomes and such. Popular kids with money and that have parents that have worked @ eagleton or know him can do whatever they please. Also, the education I got there did not prepare me for any of my high school classes. At Eagleton there was one honors class. The 'basic' classes were tought like we were just plain stupid...and a lot of the time the teachers were out in the hallway talking, not teaching us. I always had really good grades and outstanding test scores, but was never placed in Adavanced Placement and honors til High School because my 8th english teacher noticed I was really smart! haha, but Eagleton needs some tweaking to the staff...
