re MES. My experience has been a pleasant surprise - no frills - but good basic education. It is a poorer school which does require parental participation and reinforcement at home - but isn't that your job anyway? My only complaint is with the lack of discipline of the teaching staff. They're often late. They rarely are present in the classroom 5 days/week.

I was very hesitent in enrolling my son into Maynardville Elementary but decided to give it a try...BIG MISTAKE! I am extremely displeased with the below average curriculum he receives as well as the general attitude of the school. The Union County school systems opertate soley on who you are rather than what you have to offer. If you are not from Maynardville, Luttrell, Sharps Chapel or Big Ridge then you are simply not accepted!

I have two children in MES and i could not be more disappointed with a school. There are not enough staff to enforce discipline. The curriculum is way below average, my 3rd grader has spelling words like 'and'. The new principal blames everything on everyone else proving that senior leadership is as extinct as the dodo bird. Overall a horrible 'learning' environment.

Maynardville Elementary is a small school that has too many kids. The staff are very rude. It's all about your last name as to how you or your children are treated. The sytem is unstructured. No one enforces any type of standard. The school has to be the worst environment for education I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing.

Both of my girls went to Maynardville Elementary School. Both have excelled in the classroom. This is an excellent school with great parents, teachers and administration. It is too large for an elementary school but they do an excellent job even with this problem.
