This is our first year at Memphis Catholic. We chose this school based on the price and the past reputation it had maintained. Since the beginning of the school year we have had problems with the teachers, the parent/teacher communication, as well as, the new principal. The teachers obviously are there simply for a pay check and not to teach these children! They do not update the online system, Edline. Currently we are in middle May and the grades online haven't been updated since Jan.! These teachers allow children to accumulate zeros and don't bother to notify parents. There is only one parent/teacher night, which is held at the beginning of the school year, and that's it!! The principal clearly has no idea how to run this school and doesn't take action for any complaints or concerns that are brought to his attention! If your looking for a building to send your children to during the school year, this is it! But if your looking for a School with teachers that care about your children and actually educate them, or a school that communicates with their parents and keeps you up to date on your child's progress, then LOOK ELSEWHERE.....THIS IS NOT THE PLACE!!!!!

I work at St. Peter Villa (right next to Catholic High). We have some of their students doing the work-study program here at the Villa. What a fine group of students! This program allows teenagers to experience day to day life in a work environment. It teaches them how to act, dress, and interact in the work place. Great school!

It is a school like no other in Memphis. Each student gets very practical work experience in a job set up for them by the school. This job helps pay their tuition while at the same time boosting their resume for their future. All this in addition to a top notch learning environment where the kids are safe, loved, and taught christian values. They are learning in a 'hands on way' what the corporate community expects from them if they want to be successfully employed in the future.
I like Memphis Catholic because it offers real life career experience to all students as well as a full academic curriculum, in a positive community atmosphere.

I came from a public school with over 1400 students. I felt like I was just another waste of space. Most of the administration only knew you if you have done something wrong. Here at Catholic, it does take some adjusting, but you learn to deal with it after awhile. I can honestly say that I really didn't want to go here, but I am glad I did. I met a new best friend/sister and came closer to a familiar face. I got involved with the differnt events and programs around the school. The Education That Works Program can get in the way of extra activities that us teenagers have, but from my experience, I have became extremely close to my work sponsers and even do volunteer work for them during the summer. I don't feel like a number anymore; I feel apart of a family.

My first impression of the school was great! I enrolled my child based on the reputation of the school, however I am very displeased with the education or maybe I need to say the lack of education that my child has received this year. The teacher are not well organized and although promised the grades are not entered in a timely fashion. The school lacks discipline and I have seen questionable behavior when visiting the school. The classroom is overcrowded for private school.

As of last year they have a program called Education that Works, it is a wonderful program that allows the student the opportunity to learn professional work skills AND earn money towards their tuition. I am a parent with 2 children attending, and we are remaining in Memphis so that I can have them take advantage of this great opportunity. The school is very disciplined, and no nonsense, and very diverse. It also allows students from St Paul to attend for free (these are students who are receiving treatment at ST Judes, who are from other countries, or not Memphis. I guess the only bad thing is their is no band/choir/the arts education is weak. they have a very talented math teacher who is always focused and on point. All other staff are always polite also.

This is an excellent school that teaches moral values. The teachers care about their students, and the classes are not so big that the teacher isn't accessible. I'm happy with the faculty and staff at Memphis Catholic.I think they'll be around for a long time.

This is a wonderful school if learning, discipline, and the importance of knowing God are priorities for your child's learning experience. My family has a legacy of graduation from this school and I have one child that has graduated and one that currently attends. The goals have not changed. The schools and the dedication to its students only gets better and better.

About these ratings
The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.
We currently do not have any test score information for this school.
Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
