Our school has improved the security and have added an assistant principal. Cameras have been installed for additional security with an enclosed entry foyer. Extra curricular clubs include Jr. Beta Club, Scholastic Bowl, 4-H and Accelerated Reader Program, athletics, and Safety Patrol.

I had a problem similar to that with no communication froma teacher. I had sent notes went to confrences as well. We moved our child to another room where this teacher was a wonderfull choice for her her grade excelled to a's and b's the rest of the year. I dont think that all hillcrest teacher's are this way just a few that slipped throught the cracks!

My son is currently enrolled at Hillcrest as a kindergartener. It has been brought to my attention that he is being penalized for asking to go to the restroom when it's not a regularly scheduled restroom break. My son is so afraid of getting in trouble for asking to go to the restroom, that he actually had an accident. If an employer can't penalize an employee for going to the restroom, then why can a teacher penaliza a student for it?

while child adores teacher, i feel the adminstrative staff lacks in parental involvement.... more than once i have had to hear news from my child while i would have thought a note home would have been more appropriate. no news is not always good news.

This school has some great teachers, but it is lacking in technological advancement. The principal is a fair, easy-going man who handles his students well; he is well-respected by all. They are in dire need of updating, but do well with what they have. Security is not so great. They say they encourage and welcome parent involvement, but yet have no active PTA. They do have a PTO. They lack organization. But they are on level with academics, and offer boy's and girl's basketball and cheerleading. Other programs may be available to a choice few, but not widely known. Don't expect much in the line of communication from most teachers.

Moved into this county 1/2 way thru school year with 2nd & 5th graders. 5th grade was totally different from our previous school; 2nd grader adjusted much faster. I personally liked both teachers; we were less impressed with administration. Felt that we were encouraged to be much more involved in their previous school. Sometimes notes sent to school to teachers went un-answered. Since both kids are honor roll students, I may not have the best insight into the teachers' ability to work with kids that need extra help. However, the teachers we dealt with were very attentive to the problem of bullies - which is a plus.
