We have three grandchildren that attend Fairview. All three are honor roll students and are involved in other activities. Every teacher they have had has encouraged and worked hard with the children to push them to be the very best they can be. The entire staff works hard to make each child feel special.and to meet their needs. We feel lucky that the children in our family got their start at Fairview.
My granddaughter is in the first grade. She has an incredibly caring teacher whose teaching skills and people skills are excellent. Having spent time is this classroom, I have know this teacher genuinely cares about all her students. Ms. Wampler, the Principal, the office staff, the school nurse, the librarian, and the cafeteria staff are down to earth, friendly, and to use a good old southern phrase, just all around good people. I feel privileged to be able to spend some time volunteering at this school and am enjoying getting to know these people. I see Ms. Wampler greet children in the hallway, and she knows their names, knows something about them and the kids love her. She is the most hard-working, personable school principal I have ever met.
My granddaughter's teacher, Miss Hale, is kind to her students, doesn't show favoritism, and is a good teacher. The Principal and her office staff are extremely pleasant, accommodating, and will make this school the best it can be. Unfortunately, I do not believe my granddaughter will be able to reach her full potential unless something gives. She is capable of doing far more than what is being taught. The school needs more funding. The school has a lot of diversity, and I am glad my granddaughter has the opportunity to learn about this very important issue. However, I wish the school was better equipped to handle this very issue so that each student could learn at their own pace, and each could reach their full potential. With their staff, it would definitely be possible! Again, kudos to the principal, the office staff, and the teachers I have met.
My child went to a different school last year. My child is now being taught what was learned at the school my child is no longer allowed to attend what she learned in the first two weeks of kindergarten. The learning curve appears to be extremely low. There are children who barely speak English and my child is being denied a decent education due to this. The teacher is kind, appears to be very competent, but cannot teach to entire class. I feel for the children who have learning difficulties do to a language barrier, but do not want to see my child get a lousy education.
My son is in the fourth grade and has been going to Fairview since kindergarden. Mrs. Howell, the speech teacher is great. I have never met a person who cares so much about her job and the children she works with. We as parents are encouraged to help in the classroom as much as possible. The new principle is great.
