I love these schools my children have excelled so much with their education and the staff work well with the children that are more educated by offering different classes for them and the staff works with the children that need help. My hchildren love this school and always seem to ahve school spirit. They are excitied about going to school.
I love this School the Teachers there are so good with the Kids and preschool Teacher are just Awesome with the kids we are so happy with this school!! Jill Farmer
We are moving and have found this site helpful as we've looked at schools in another state. I thought I would rate the school we've been at for so long. Manley is a great school. The thing that sets it apart from other schools is that now, starting in kindergarten the kids are divided up into ability levels for math and reading. It's the only school in Hamblen Co. to do this. Personally, I really like this because my kids are more advanced so they don't have to be pulled back in either of these subjects. My fourth grader is being taught math from a 5th/6th level math book. I can't say that all the teachers the "the best" because it is a big school and all schools have a range of teachers. The administration is approachable and there is an open door policy. As a parent I can be as involved as I want. FYI, if you are moving to Morristown, the west end is considered "the better part of town" and Manley and Alpha have the best test scores by students on TCAPS and are generally thought to be the 2 best elementary schools in town. (I am biased a bit, but I wish someone would say things like that about the town we are moving to.)
Outstanding school! Outstanding administrators! Outstanding teachers! Outstanding auxilliary staff! I am a 30 year retired teacher/counselor in three school systems. My grandchildren are getting a exemplary education in a warm, friendly environment. As a grandparent and volunteer I could not be happier with the quality of the education my grandchildren are receiving in the most family centered, welcoming environment in the state. Can't imagine anyone being unhappy with what is happening here. Let me conclude, my brother taught in a private school about Manley Elementary he said, 'It is the best education money can buy. I have seen a great deal of change in this school. I have been associated with this school for over 10 yrs. and due to leadership changes the parent involvement is not as enjoyable. As a parent I will continue to be involved for my children not because I want to, but because I know how important it is. Even the level of learning is not as good perhaps because of the teacher turnover. I have to do some supplement work during the summer. I am comparing this to my children who have moved on and seemed to have been better prepared for middle school.
This school is excellent in all departments. The principal absolutely wonderful. She knows every student by their first and last name. Wow how many other principals can do that? Manley really gets the parents involved in just about everything. My childs teacher is the best she could ever have. She cares and takes her time with all her students. This school really cares about ALL the students and their safety!
I love this school. The administration really encourages parent involvement. And not just with field trips. We are welcome to come and help the teachers in the classroom with everyday activities. Also the teachers truly care about each student. I have to move out of the school system and I can only hope to find a school as good as this Manley.
I am very involved as a parent with Manley Elementary. Things have drastically changed this year, and not for the better. We are loosing great teachers. The family atmosphere is gone. The lack of communication between parents and teachers and parents and administation is frustrating. The students have not been inspired to read this year as they have been in the past. Other parents feel the same as I do about the lacking of a good leader. I am excited that Dr. Moorehouse is at West High School, but I hope Manley School does not have to suffer. I have already done a survey with a letter of comments. Obviously, mine was overlooked. I feel that if more parents do not take a stand and this administration continues as it is, the students are going to suffer.
My son's experience at Manley Elementary has been extremely positive. He has been challenged in every subject. I have been amazed at the creative assignments the teachers give and the way they encourage critical thinking and not just learning facts. The principal and assistant principal foster a professional environment. I am also pleased at the way the school addresses teaching the many Hispanic students who need extra help with reading and language skills without sacrificing the quality of instruction for the other students. The music teacher is incredible as well.
we have lived in several states, but this school is the BEST all around (education, involvement, food, discipline, etc.) Wish every child in US could have this experience! Karen Landers
