i think this school is great . i came here in 6th grade and by then i just hated all adults . but that change when i came to this school . the teachers there will help you if they feel some thing is up with you . im in 8th grade now and i will miss this school very much
I came to this school in 6th grade. I had a great year and made great grades. Now i am in 7th grade and i have great teachers. they all are fair, and usely very nice. The only thing that made me give the school a 4 star and not a 5 star, is that i hate the dress code. I will live, but if one thing they could change it would be to a wear almost whatever you want. Besides the dress code, i think this school is great.
WWMS has overall been an okay school.Rica needs to be more for doing homework. Children that are in extracurricular activities have nights were they get home late. And need to get adequate sleep. Not up half the night doing homework.
I have a sixth grader that attends WWMS. This has been a great beginning of the school year for him. I was worried that the transition would be difficult for him. The teachers keep in constant contact with my husband and me. They seem to go over and beyond the call of duty. I have never experienced such positive communication within a school. Administration answers all of our questions and only wants the best for our students. They help motivate the students to do their best and succeed. Thank you WWMS!
This is a school that needs some hands on direction. Even thou my experience has been better than last year, the lack of support, rudeness from the staff, complete disorganization, and poor management are areas of improvement that seem to be ignored by the current principal. It was interesting to see the principal running for major how can he manage our city if he can hardly manage his school? If the school will have more people like Assistant Principal Mr. Akins and less people like Assistant Principal Mr. Bannach we will be able to see some improvement. In the meantime, teachers get burned out, parents get frustrated and our children pay the consequences. Want to change our city?... start making some changes with the school. Where to start? Start talking to your staff and your customers (the parents and children).
West Wilson Middle is a great school. I have two grandsons that attend there and they both love it. The teachers care and are good at what they do. Thank you!
The biggest problem is the paerents lack of involvement. The parents think their children can do no wrong, and the teachers are 'out to get' their little angles. The parents complain that the teachers are only concerned with dress code, if the parents enforced it, the teachers could teach.....
My daughter is in 3rd yr here, and she also plays sports. Teachers seem to go all out for kids, office staff is great! Daughter has enjoyed it ....
I had 3 boys go to this school. One survived it 3 years of bullying and teasing an effort by the school to stop it. The other 2 could not handle it and went from great students to failing completely. The admin were unpleasant, the principle was a ghost, they spent all their time fussing about dress code, they never returned call, the teaching was abysmal. I can only hope that now that the Principal from Lakeview has taken over he can turn it around. I hated having children at this school.
I have found that this school is certainly one of the better schools with which I have been involved . The teachers really care and go out of their way to help ensure that my child succeeds. I think some parents refuse to accept that as children grow and mature, so should their level of responsibility. I stress this as well to my child. The teachers and administrative staff have only the students best interest at heart. Sometimes this means incorporating ideas and policies that doesn't appeal to everyone. Parents must realize that their children are no longer in safety net of elementary schools. Students must be educated for the real world as well as the 'three R's.'
I sent them a request for records since I was enrolling my son in homeschool (7th grade) and I just received a letter from the Superintendent's office saying that I have one day to show that I requested the records and enrolled him in homeschool or they will take me to Juvenile Court! I even checked with the school a month ago to see if everything was okay and they said oh yes, have a great year! Do not send your child to this school. I took my son out of this school for just about the same reasons as everyone else have expressed and this was just another bad experience I have had and it has made me even more resolved than before to continue to homeschool.
This school is the absolutely worst school I have ever been involved in. My normally high achieving daughter completely withdrew and was unable to function in this school. The teachers are uncaring, the language and behavior of students is out of control. After one year I had to take her out and homeschool her. After a year of homeschooling and very expensive therapy she is finally back to her old self. My son is due to go next year but I will be homeschooling him through the middle grades as well. I won't even subject him to this place.
I would not recommend West Wilson Middle to anyones child. Most of the time you can not get to the principal. And if you do, it is days after you left him several messages. The teachers, they bring personal issues into the class room and discuss with the students. So what exactly are they teaching. As for a foreign language, you would have better luck teaching your child yourself. I have never heard of the amount of complaints from 1 school as I have from this one.
I am truly not happy with the teachers and the office staff. Communication is horrible! And unfortunatly my child seems to get the blame for that. I do not feel as though the teachers truly care about these kids nor does the prinicipal. so where does that leave us? Pretty much at their mercy. my daughter will be out next year, but my son is right behind her in a couple. I can only pray things change by then!
My son recently brought home his report card that included all A's except for one F in a class that he never received anything lower than a B. We were not informed that he was having trouble until we received his report card. I tried to reach the principal, but only found gate-keepers. When he finally returned my call, it was clear that he was preoccupied. His response was 'That's good to hear. I'm glad everything worked out.' He clearly didn't listen to a word I said. How can we as parents hold our children accountable if the teacher neither communicates with parents nor updates the students online homework site? I hold my son completely responsible for his grades. However my son was clearly handicapped when we, as parents didn't know he needed some intervention.
The major problem with not only this school, but the entire county, is that the dress code (which the teachers cannot even interpret correctly) is placed above the education of the students. Major lapses in communication with parents would be the second. The administration is useless, rude, and does not have the best interest of the children's education in mind in most cases. Encouragement of the children and enthusiasm is nonexistent.
The school is a nice school with good teachers, however communication to the parents could be better.
I do not put any trust into the administration. They are rude and do not want to hear about problems or concerns that you may have. The homework is rididculous. This school needs some help.
