This review is solely based on my experience with Cole Academy while we were looking at daycares when I was pregnant with my daughter. My husband and I visited Cole academy when I was 10 weeks pregnant as I was informed by many daycares in the area that there was a one year long wait list. My husband and I heard wonderful things about Cole Academy from many people in our neighborhood. Although the owners of the center were not that courtesy, we were impressed with the facility, as well as the caregivers in each age group. When I informed the owners that we wanted a spot on the waitlist, we were told it was a year long and to call back each month to continue to tell them we were interested. On the same day each month from June 2015 to January 2016, I called and spoke with Jennifer to let her know I was still interested and to check on our spot on the list. I was asked every month who I was, what age group I was wanting to place my child in and that they really couldn't give me a definite answer on if my daughter would have a spot at their facility. I would like to note that she told me to have a backup just in case. After my daughter was born in late January, my husband called to let them know she was here and that we would need child care services starting in late April. It was at that time that they stated that they had other women who had children already in their facility who had just had their babies and that we would not have a spot until late summer. Due to the lack of professionalism, inability to remember who we were and - most importantly - not being upfront with us on when we could expect to be able to bring our daughter there, we decided that we would not be putting our daughter in Cole Academy. My husband and I ultimately decided that I would stay home with our daughter rather than putting her in daycare. I never called Cole Academy to inform them of this, but they also never called me to let me know that a spot was available for our daughter.
My son attended this school for nearly a year and he loved it. I am very particular about who I allow to watch my children and I was very comfortable with the staff at this facility. They were personable and there was security in place, which included key fobs to enter the facility.
It is true that they don't have a dedicated secretary or greeter but that wasn't of great importance to me as I could locate the owners if I needed to.
We just took our daughter out of Cole Academy. There were so many things that were not right about this place. First, there is no one around when I pick up my daughter at the end of the day. I have to hunt around to find her and no one questions who I am or ask me for ID. There is no security measures, the door is always unlocked, anyone can stroll in without anyone stopping them. Also, this winter there were a lot of snow days. The owners would text and say they would be open, only to find out that they changed their minds. They would also close the school early if there were only a couple of kids....I guess just a couple wasn't worth enough to them. So my husband and I would have to scramble and leave work early several times to get her. When we finally took her out, the male owner was very very rude. He said they require a two week notice which we honestly didn't know. He then got nasty and said we were leaving him hanging. He didn't seem to care when she was there and left us hanging all the time! Avoid sending your children here!
Second to none in the Nashville area. The staff treats the children like they are their own and I wouldn t trust my children with anyone else. We have been a Cole family for years and I am so grateful for the confidence that I have in their ability to care for my children while I am working and away from my kids. Reading the reviews below, it saddens me to see some of the negative comments below and I urge you to remember that negative people will find ways to vent their anger more times than a person is likely to post about a positive experience. So read with caution and take the time to go see the facility, talk to the staff and watch for my only complaint. I think it is pretty awesome that my only complaint, is that my kids sometimes cry when I pick them up because they would rather stay and play with their friends than go home. To me, if that is the worst thing that happens in my day, I am very blessed with an amazing day care for my kids.
As a parent, I ABSOLUTELY love Cole Academy. My children have attended here for 9 yrs now. I have moved 45 minutes away but continued to bring my children here. I am truely blessed to have found them. All of the teachers are wonderful, I could not do their job. The owners Tim and Jennifer are the best there is. I would not and will not go anywhere else. I love how everyone there treats/loves my children as if they were their own. You can't ask for better than that.
The owners Tim and Jennifer Cole, the staff, and the teachers treat and love my child as their own. They all go above and beyond to love, teach, protect, and grow my child to be his best. We are blessed beyond measure to have them in our lives. This daycare staff dedicates themselves to the betterment of my son and are always approachable and communicative. I will not have my son anywhere else. They remain open when other centers close, they keep in close contact whenever anything comes up that I would need to know, they take the kids on fun field trips, they teach them manners, they raise these babies as their own. I absolutely LOVE these people and appreciate their hard work with my most precious jewel... my son.
Please note, my kids never attended here. I just moved here, drove by to check it out, rang bell, waited outside, gentleman came to door, on the phone, no greeting. I asked for a pamphlet, he said they don't bother to make any. I asked about availability and tour and he said they were booked 6 months out from time of my visit. I found his lack of courtesy and warmth bad for his business and not a welcoming feel for me. I can understand if this center is full yet, wouldn't you not want to put of a potential new customer? Especially someone who, he did not care to find out, has 2 little ones with executive parents? I am moving on to look at other care centers.
BEWARE THIS SCHOOL!!! The teachers are ok at best. They yell at the kids... one even throws threats around. One day I was picking my daughter up from school and Tim, the owner, was hugging her. I didn't think much of it because they have been there for so long... but when I asked her about it... she said Tim said that "If you give me a hug, I will forgive you." THAT WAS NOT APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR FOR A GROWN MAN TO MAKE A 11 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL HUG HIM FOR NOT DOING HER HOMEWORK!!! I confronted Tim the next day and he acted a fool. He now knows the rules... but now I cannot even pick up my kids from there.
While calling this center in an attempt to gather general information I was sorely dissappointed. The first call went unanswered even after numerous rings. Several weeks later another phone call was attempted only to get a rude, curt, uninformative and snobish response. I later found out the person I spoke with is the co-owner. This center is off my list of possibilities due to the rudeness of the phone response and also due to the overly-strict rules that the center enforces. If you choose this school, be prepared to have them tell you how to raise your child, including when they must meet center-decided criteria related to developmental milestones.
