EPE has an amazing staff committed to teaching our kids to learn and grow. I am so glad that we chose to send my daughter to school there! From the moment you walk through the door, you are made to feel like family. I can't imagine sending my daughter anywhere else.
My son is getting ready to start 2nd grade in the fall. We have had a great experience at EPES. The teachers are great & I feel like my son has learned so much. I would recommend this school to others.
This school year has been a nightmare we have addressed issues with principal and teaching staff nothing has been resolved our children will not be attending EPES next school year.
Excellent school!! Teachers and Administration are very supportive and my child loves going to school. Great Leadership school!
Elzie Patton is a Great School for your kids! Great Teachers and Great Students! My kids go to this school and have a great education because of it. I would recommend this school to anyone looking in this area.
The teachers our kids have are very unorganized. The focus too much on leadership and less on academics. The worse part is if you are in the school zone then our kids are forced to go this school or else choose a private school. Leaders are born not made and how is it right to force these leaderhsip skills on kids who are interested in being leaders. The teachers are not innnovative in their teaching skills. They lack the ability to keep the kids focussed in class. Teachers are shielded a lot. The staff is unfriendly.
To the parent who switched their daughter out of EPE to Lakeview after three weeks: I am trying to do the same thing and would like to ask you a few questions. How can I get in contact with you?
My daughter's kindergarten teacher was wonderful. She was very caring, dedicated, and organized. The office staff is very helpful and efficient.
This school has excellent teachers....unfortunately that's about where it ends for greatness. Leadership in the school pushes the 7 habits model but lacks following those same qualities for the principal. The basics are missing and is showing in the lower test scores over the first 3 years of this schools operation. I wish we were zoned for MJE or Rutland...both of which had excellent leadership, teachers, and parent involvement.
My daughter is on her 3rd year at Elzie D Patton and we could not be more happy with her academic progress as well as her personal growth. She was chosen as her grades student ambassador, she is part of the enviroment club, she is able to partake in Tae Kwon Do that they offer on school campus following immediately after school, her grades are top notch and the teachers allow her to learn as fast as she can absorb. I get very frustrated with schools that "dumb down" the curriculum in order to make all the children feel on par. Some children excel faster than others and some children learn better from their peers. At Elzie Patton, the faculty goes to great lengths to make sure that all of their students learn on their own scale, allowing each student to excel far beyond other students at this age. I am thoroughly impressed with the curriculum and find it to be an institution of learning that is prepping our children to tackle any and all obstacles in their lives. This is a collegiate preperatory school and I truly feel these students will do far above average with the foundation that is being layed with this schools instruction. My daughter attended Elzie Patton for all of 3 weeks before I pulled her out and switched her to Lakeview. The staff in the office were rude, the teacher did not teach, and it overall was an unorganized school. I have met several parents that shared my opinion and pulled their children out as well.
From the other reviews posted, my experience must be the exception. I don't agree with the pushing of the Seven Habits. Not all can be "Leaders". The school needs to work more on teaching the basics of subjects. If you don't fit in with their ideas, then you child becomes the outcast. I have seen no compassion from the teachers. Every time I have asked a question, I have been told it is not the responsiblity of the teacher to teach, but the responsibility of my child to learn. The teachers only present the materials. The child must learn on their own. So why have teachers? Thus I have spent several hours everynight trying to teach my child the basic subjects so that middle school will be managable.
We love EPE. They have done an excellent job at continuing to challenge our child on a regular basis. This is our second year at Elzie.
We have been very impressed with our child's teachers. Each teacher we've met thus far has presented as very capable of challenging the children in the classrooms to progress in their academics and meet their goals. We love this school!
All we can say is AWESOME job! Our boys are treated with equality, respect, and held to a standard that supports us as a family as well as our morals and values. From Ms. Hassel and Mr. Huto all the way down the line there is consistancy with rules and praise. The compassion as a faculty is amazing. Being a parent with a child who has specail needs has found this school, Mr. Smotherman and all who are responsible for his education supportive and inspiring in a way i did not think possible. It is by chance that my boys attend this school but a true blessing and priviledge to be a Patriot Parent. Thank you all at Elzie D. Patton for your support and know you have ours.
The leadership model is great, but lacks the the amount of basic learning, as shown in TCAP scores. The parent involvement is below poor.
I feel that Elzie Patton school does a good job of encouraging children to be polite, accurate, disciplined and tactful. I particularly enjoy the leadership program which helps develop valuable qualities that children will be able to apply in whatever career track they decide to pursue. The school also attempts to involve parents in volunteer activities and even in substitute teaching, which helps with socializing and cooperating among parents.
The school clearly lacks instruction of basic learning tools. Too much emphasis is put somewhere, although I have a hard time finding where that emphasis is.
My daughter has learned a great deal in the past 2 years. Wilson county picked the best teachers for this schools and their leadership program is wonderful.
