While the teachers are caring and fond memories of yesteryear are strong, [there are] entirely too many disciplinary distractions to consider it a good school. This is not a neighborhood school at all.

I feel that Brookmeade has a discipline problem with TOO many of the students, however, they do have a program in place to encourage responsible behavior. The level of parent involvement is very high... I am concerned that the test scores are low...although, my son is doing very well.

I have not been happy with Brookmeade. Although the administrators are kind, they are totally unresponsive to parental concerns. There is also a lack of extracirricular activities and there is little opportunity for counseling the kids if they need a soft shoulder or help problem-solving. I also think that the emphasis on discipline retards the childrens' creativity. I believe it has a much better reputation than deserved.

Brookmeade Elementary school is an awesome school! My son is in the third grade and has attended Brookmeade since kindergarten. Our son has had terrific teachers, the principal (Mr. La Veck)is a warm hearted caring person who cares deeply for the students. Brookmeade has strong parent support and is focused on making Brookmeade the best it can be! Brookmeade provides a great overall learning environment and we feel blessed that our son attends Brookmeade!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.
