Cora Howe is a MNPS focusing on children that learn through atypical methods. Most of the kids have some type of learning delay or behavioral issue that has placed them in this school. The teacher/student ration averages about 6 to 1 or slightly higher, but all classes have a dedicated teaching aid and support staff. OT and Speech services are given at the school by a dedicated teacher on site. They'll be getting a new principal in the fall of 2012, which is welcome. The prior administrator retired and she was just tired, so new leadership is welcome. This is not an easy job, so the teachers here have to really love teaching and love working with these kids. The parental support is lacking, but many of the kids have single parent families or need support from grandparents. But as with any public school, it can be improved upon. Similar private schools in the area charge 30k for this type of setup, but it's hard to compare this facility to another MNPS. I DO believe the kids are hampered by the setup in that they don't interact with typical kids or typical behavior on a regular basis. I think that would push them to excel more and would benefit them greatly. My child attends here.

my child is a third grader at cora howe. i do not think this school is very good because everytime i ask my child what she did in school all she says is "we played".maybe they should teach them something such as math, reading, and writing. also the staff is very rude and i wonder if they ever made it higher than the third grade.

My daughter is in the pre-k program, and it is wonderful. She has a great teacher. It has really prepared her for kindergarden. The principal is very helpful. I would recommend this school.

This is a school where a parent can send their children and not worry about safety. The teachers provide the best in quality education. Overall this school has provided the greatest educational experience a child can receive.

Oops! We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Public and charter school test scores for most states come from the state Department of Education. The most common reasons we might not have this data are either that not enough students took the test or that the school was recently opened, and its scores have not yet been reported.
