My 1st experience with a child in school and it has been wonderful! Great, caring teachers and staff. Awesome principle! A great experience all around, and I am SUPER picky, especially when it come to my child. This is a school I'd love to stick with. I felt invited to be a part of my child's learning and total school experience. Yes, overcrowded, but what can be done? Kids have to go somewhere.
I have been at Shayne since 2006 and I would highly disagree with the unhappy parent that just wrote a bad review. It is not Shayne's fault that they are overcrowded. Shayne is not in control of the zoning and if the personnel could change it, they would. I feel like the teachers and staff have handled their students very well. As far as teachers wanting out... I know all the teachers and I know that 99% for them are VERY happy with Shayne. Of course Green HIlls and Williamson county schools are less crowded, the parents have more money to support their schools. They also have bigger homes and better cars. Sounds to me like you are unhappy with your own life and that you may need to work on yourself instead of lashing out at a wonderful school. Maybe you should go to another Metro school in the area and look at their overcrowding and poverty problems and then you would appreciate where you are. Why don't you do something good with your anger and go to the board and try to change the zoning or go get a job and move.
This school is terrible. The test scores are below average and bad even for MNPS lousy standards. The school is WAY overcrowded which is unbelievable considering it was just built in 2004 and they expect another big jump in enrollment in 2012. The entire 3rd & 4th grades are housed outside in portables and 2nd is probably close behind. Meanwhile the public schools in the more affluent areas seem to be able to avoid expansion, overcrowding, and the introduction of portables, all while maintaining much higher test scores and hand picking the best teachers. Seems Green Hills tax dollars are worth more than Antioch tax dollars. The teachers at Shayne don t seem to be very caring and many of them seem to want out. If your child is zoned for Shayne move to Williamson. If you can t afford to move like most of us, sorry.

Have a boy and girl at this school and have been very pleased. The teachers have been excellent, high quality educators. We have attended several programs and community events that were well supported by the administration, teachers, and parents.
