Is 5th grade considered elementary or middle school? What do you think is a good school for my 5th grader?

Hello. I'm not from TN, but in most districts, 5th grade is still elementary school. You might try using the "Find a School" feature on the green menu bar near the top of this page, where you can enter the location and grade level, and then see a list of all schools in a given area. Public schools are rated from 1 (low) to 10 (high) depending on how their students performed relative to others on recent statewide testing. If you click on an individual school name, you can find out more details about it and read any parent comments that have been made. You should also be able to see what grades each school covers.

Here in Nashville, 5th grade is part of middle school. You will need to attend you zoned school or apply for a magnet school. The Magnet AP programs of Meigs and West End Middle are recommended if your student is advanced. Also contact the Encore office if you suspect your child is gifted. All schools in Nashville have their good points. Nashville is just a great area to have your family. Hendersonville, the lake area just north of Nashville was rated high as a great place to raise your children.
