Hi. I see you're from TN...I'm not, but I wanted to suggest that you contact The Arc in your state, as they should be able to direct you to local resources and support groups. http://www.thearc.org/NetCommunity/Page.aspx?&pid=331

Thanks so much! Actually, we currently live in Texas and there is a real possibility that we will be transferring to the Nashville area very soon. We just don't have our traveling papers yet. Never thought to contact ARC but will do that today. Thanks for taking the time to answer! khewitt

In my search for a good school for my special needs (dyslexic) child I researched the special school district. Someone told me that Poplar Grove, which is a year round public school in the Franklin Special School district, has a strong program for children with autism. Please confirm with other parents though. That school requires special application. We did not end up going to Poplar Grove.

Thank you for this information! We have avoided the transfer bug for the time being but always a possibility. I'll keep this for later reference.

There is a really fantastic school called Curry-Ingram Academy in Brentwood, TN which borders Franklin. It's very expensive though, but the website is www.curreyingram.org Good luck!
