There are a few very good teachers at this school, but the curriculum ties them down. We have to supplement our children's education at home in order to keep them current with the rest of the US in studies for their grade level. the female principle seems to act like a know it all and never believes the children she always sides with the teachers even when they are in the wrong.
I am an employee at NMES. I think the principal is doing a wonderful job with the school. She really cares about the students and it shows!! Teachers are doing a great job, Our TCAP scores continue to rise and students are doing better than ever! Keep up the good work!
I like New Market very much. My son has been a student there for 4 years. I am very happy with the education he is receiving. I think Miss Ada (The Afterschool Program Director) is a very nice lady. My son thinks she is great and he has alot of fun. I am involved in his education and attend every school party and field trip and I know many other parents who are also involved. I have always felt welcolmed by his teachers and other school faculty and staff. I will be sending my daughter to school in 2 more years and I am very happy she will be attending New Market.
Newmarket is a very good elementary. the office people are very helpfull. so are teachers. I'm glad my son go there.
New Market had the most caring faculty and staff I have ever seen at a school. Parents sometimes complained about the principal because he was old fashioned but he turned many students around. He was not afraid to discipline them when they needed it. It was obvious the parents who complained were falling short in their duties at home in raising respectful and caring children. Most parents were happy to have their child in a school that emphasized learning and good citizenship. Yes, the principal is gone now and the the place is bedlam. Not a good learning environment. The new principal is trying to win a popularity contest with the parents. If only parents could realize children need love and loving discipline. New Market had that for many years.
The principal is very old and outdated. He will not allow a PTA. He wants to run it all and parents have no say so. The after-school daycare is awful and the lady that runs it is mean to the kids and doesn't let them have fun. My kids had to be in it for a few years because there was nowhere else to go and we had no relatives in the area that could help us by watching them after school. Now there are Boys & Girls Clubs around that are great! Sign up quick. Everyone can't wait to get out of the school daycare. The principal needs to retire many years ago. New updated ideas need to happen to progress the education and well being of the kids. Also, there is plenty of money for a decent playground, but the principal is fighting that too.
New Market is a wonderful small town school. My daughter has learned so much from awesome teachers. Most everyone in the school really seems to care about the kids and learning. One issue though, I think it's past time to get a new principal. At one time I am sure he did a great job, but now it is time to go. His morning 'speeches' to the kids are extremely bored and go on deaf ear as I have heard described. As for the teachers, all the ones that we have been exposed to in the last few years have been extremely caring, educated and concerned about all the children. More parents would be involved if they weren't intimidated by the principle's hateful and rude demeanor.
