Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This school is a joke. My child gets in trouble for things that they never seem to do anywhere all based on the claims of other children with no proof that my child did it. In the first place. The bus system is a joke and a half if your child lives around the same area as my child cause the bus is constantly late picking up or dropping off or it just doesn't bother showing up at all. This is the most god awful school I've ever seen. Now I will admit that some of my child's previous teachers seemed to care about the students but most of the ones I've meet only show up for a pay check, not to teach or mentor the students. If there is any way to place your child in another school, then for your child's education and social learning please do so. Because my child will not be there next year if this is how this school is going to treat the educational value of my child and others children.

My son is in the 8th grade and this was his 1st year attending Bridgeport. He has never had behavioral problems at his other schools but conveniently they don't care for him here. The principal IS disrespectful as is my son's 3rd block teacher! She has humiliated him in front of other students, yet allowed those very students to say horrible things to my son with no penalties. When I brought it to the "wonderful" principal's attention she irately defended the teacher. My son's other teachers say they have no problems with him other than school work. Btw...my son is in special education. And they seem to be falling behind in that! Extremely disappointed with this school. As the other parent said, I would highly recommend placing your child in another zoned school. Unless you're friends with the staff outside of school. Then your child may be treated wonderfully! X(

I love the kindness of the teachers. My son is thrilled he goes to Bridgeport now, this is his first year and he is truly a different kid. He is more positive and is very happy.

This school is very disappointing!! The Principal is rude and very unprofessional and the staff doesn't fall far behind! A few of the teachers use profanity towards the students and my children have reported to myself that other students are unruly and constantly disrupt the class. I have another child that attends Northwest Elementary in Newport and although Northwest has a rating of 2, the school is a lot better then Bridgeport! Next school year my child will be going to another school in the county! If you value your children's education, then I would seriously consider another school within the district!

As a parent, I do not feel welcome at this school. As a matter-of-fact, it is difficult to get the office staff to even acknowledge you when you enter the building. The principal rarely leaves the school office and does not have control of the building. The school is lacking in academic rigor and is below state average on test scores in all academic areas. In addition, the school building is filthy. Children deserve better.

I attended Bridgeport my whole life. And as a Bridgeport alum and current high school student, I can say that Bridgeport was a great school with teachers who truely beleive in what they teach. Bridgeport gets an A+ from me.
