I absolutely love this school! It is very clean and the staff is wonderful! My son loves it here! The staff is very kind and helpful and the Principal was very welcoming to my son and I on his first day! The pick-up process is NOT chaotic at all... if anything the only issue with pick-up is the parents who do not understand what enter and exit mean!! There are so many cars coming in and the staff does a really good job keeping the students safe. I even saw the staff walking kids to their parents cars! Too bad my other kids have to attend Bridgeport because regardless of their rating of "2" the school is a great place to send your child!! It will be sad when my son leaves this school next year to go to High School.... the staff will be missed!
This school has improved dramatically in recent years. The pick-up process is well defined and not chaotic at all. There is a separate pick-up place for car riders and bus riders. Bus riders dismiss first, board buses and the buses leave. Car riders are dismissed after the buses leave. Cars arrive in single file and cycle through a round about where teachers supervise the loading of students. After car traffic is down, walkers are dismissed. Some parents have unrealistic expectations, but for a school with 430 students, drop-off and dismissal is smooth. As far as rude bus drivers -- given some of the kids and parents they have to deal with, they're saints. The complaining parent, by the way, has the freedom to move her child to any county school. In the last two years, the student population at Northwest has gone from 269 to 430. That tells you something. Oh yeah, their test scores have improved by double digits.
The school is scary!!!! Picking up my child is chaos, there is no organization to the pick up process. I've seen a teacher yelling at children multiple times. There is a VERY rude bus driver too. My child does not and will not ride the bus. Her teacher is the only thing I can speak highly of. Truth be told if you want to raise a hooligan this is the school that'll do it.
This is a great school my son has come out of his shell here they care about the childern's safty and well being you can all way's get someone on the phone if you need them for anything great staff we truly love this school..
My son is in the 1st grade. He started this school and now has his first male teacher. Until he went to this school he wasn't doing so well. Now he has STRAIGHT A'S! I love this school and I think they are doing an excellent job with my son, and I am certainly glad he attends!
My daughter went there last school year (2006-2007). they passed her with to her next grade, with D's & F's. I just didn't understand it. They said it was an over sight. Whatever that is supposed to mean. I told them that if she was doing so poorly why didn't they explain? They need to learn better communication skill's when a child is doing so poorly. Not just pass them on.
