The focus of the entire school year is teaching to the TCAP. After the test is administered, teaching effectively stops for the year in many classrooms. Most teachers are more interested in your child s performance on the TCAP while in his/her classroom than he/she is on your child actually learning/retaining any skills that will benefit your child in the future. Children hear it all year long you need to know this, it will be on the TCAP. Don't bother bringing your complaints to the Principal. If a Student, Faculty or Administration member is breaking policy, he'll tell you how it's against school policy, and how bad he feels about it -- but he won't stop it from happening again. TACS for our 'gifted and talented' students; where is the extra challenge these kids need; the additional projects to supplement their studies? Sadly, TACS is little more than a clique.
