I spent one year at Stewarts Creek Middle (8th) and my experience was not up to par AT ALL. The whole system is crooked and it did not feel like a school. You could get in trouble once, and the principle and staff would feel like you were un-fit or not worthy of going here and ship you off to Smyrna West. (the alternative school). The kids were the snobbiest, most self centered people I have ever met. I was from the Nashville Metro area where people were hurting for money (like myself) and we could not afford the same clothing/ items that the middle to upper class kids can afford. The children and SOME STAFF at Stewarts Creek would look down, or treat you differently because of it. I saw tons of bullying and drama from the kids there. I feel like they cared more about a curse word than they did about a child's experience there because of bullying. Also, the teachers seemed to only be there to get the tenure. Overall, my experience was not very good.

All I can say is that I'm sorry that we moved to this school district with only one year left that my child could attend here. For the first nine weeks, I was overwhelmed daily by the encouragement and emphasis on success my child received at school. Parent involvement here is really strong - standing room only at my first open house. Easy communication with teachers and staff who always invite questions and concerns. Highly recommended!

This school is the best school in Tennessee! The 6B teachers are great.

It's a really good school. One problem is too much focus on TCAP scores.

About the tests

In 2011-2012 Tennessee used the Gateway/End-of-Course (EOC) exams to test high school students in language arts, math, science, and social studies upon completion of relevant courses. Students must pass the algebra I, English II, and biology I tests, called the Gateway exams, in order to graduate. This year, Tennessee introduced two new exams in algebra II and English III, and those results are included on the GreatSchools profile as well. The Gateway/EOC exams are standards-based tests that measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined by the state of Tennessee. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.
