This is a good school but there is a lot of politics. The principal is as much a part of the click-ish politics as anyone. There are many teachers there who care and work hard for the kids though. Overall it is a good school but could improve by eliminating the small town politics.
This is the best school EVER! My child went here for kindergarten and half of first grade. Unfortunately we had to move and now he is at another school. We really miss it at Coopertown Elem. The teachers and staff are great there. I would recommend it to anyone who cares about their childs education to bring them here. They are very hands on and super friendly.
Our family is very happy with Coopertown Elem and Coopertown Middle Schools. How nice to have new facilities and fresh staffing! Whether my child is doing well with studies or struggling with a subject matter, the lines of communication have always been open with teachers and faculty. Both are eager to offer means of improvement. Coopertown has done an excellent job implementing programs where children and parents alike may not only become involved, but also strive for excellence. The PTO has also done a fantastic job growing these programs and involving parents and teachers at a greater level. Our students need the involvement of the teachers and even more so from their parents to make learning a success! Thank you, Coopertown, for striving for this success on a continual basis, and for providing a safe, resourceful place for our children to grow and learn.
I am very happy with the elementary school. My childern were going to PVCS and we were really pleased with the school, we just could not afford it anymore. My daughter goes to CES and my son goes to CMS, my daughter is doing great, my son is struggling. I spend alot of time with him teaching him lessons over just to help him understand. My worries are Coopertown does not have a High School yet.
I have two children at this school, and I feel they really push the children to excel. They have started a new enrichment program to go the extra mile as well.
The teachers do an awesome job with the kids. This is my child's third year there and she has become an avid reader, great imaginationand just the best with numbers and her knowledge of the computer is just unbelievable.I highly recomend CES to any parent whose children are about to enter kindergarten or are looking for a good elementary school. The teachers do care for their students begining with Ms. Smith the principal all the way to the cafeteria staff.
When my husband and I moved to this area, one big concern was the schools. I have not been disappointed for the most part with CES. I would prefer my child to go to a private school, but there are none in the immediate area I would want them to attend. My oldest child thankfully had great teachers especially Mrs. Head and Mrs. Rose. I was aware of some teachers who had tenure and was only there to get a paycheck. We were able to avoid those classes. Unfortunately, you'll find them in all schools. The teachers worked well with us on any homwork issues regarding my child. My youngest is in Kindergarten now and loves to read. My husband and I reinforce at home what our kids have been taught. We do not solely rely on the school system no matter what school they are in.
My husband and I were very disapointed in this school. Our child started here in Kindergarten as a very happy, curious child. By the time my child was through kindergarten my child was a very different child, not happy and not interested in learning. We strugled with the school through 4th grade and found that each year was the same. The teachers did not teach so children are able to learn, I taught my child at home and we felt Coopertown babysat them during the day. We have since moved our child to a private school and what a difference we have our child back again. A happy, curious child. Does not mind going to school each day now, at Coopertown, she complained she was sick a lot. The grades have improved from D's to B's. And we are not having to teach at home any longer.
I moved here from Nashville when I gained custody of my grandson, I had hoped for a better education outside of metro. I am very disappointed in this school. The administration is the worst I have ever experienced. My grandson takes medication for extreme ADHD. It has been a nightmare for me, my grandson, and his Doctor to try to get them to work with us. As soon as I can sell my home I am moving. The people in the community have been great but the school leaves a lot to be desired, with the exception of Mrs. Alice Poor (who is a wonderful teacher).
Very disappointed in this school. Will be seeking other options next year. If someone tells you Coopertown is the best school, do your own homework before taking them at their word.
I am extremely dissatisfied with this elementary school. The children are not challenged. The staff is very disorganized. I do not believe that 'planning' is in their vocabulary. I have had to re-grade my child's papers and send them back to correct the teacher's grade book. There seems to be a lack of concern with both teachers and parents. For a large student body, very few parents actively participate.
Sometimes I cannot believe how much my step-son (age 8) is learning at school. The vocabulary he is developing blows me away! He has such a great teacher this year. Ms. Hollis keeps us informed and encourages mom's & dad's to get involved. I like the sense of community at this school. To all of those who make Coopertown Elementary great, from the teachers to the lunch ladies, thank you!
I have been extremely unhappy with the quality of education at Coopertown Middle School and will not allow our other 2 children to even attend this school. As a teacher I am shocked by the actions of tenured teachers in this school and the administration has proved to be even more shocking. Its very sad that this beautiful new middle school is being run in such an incompetent manner.
The new principal at Coopertown has the students and teachers working harder to achieve many new goals set for them. There has been some new activities, such as Earth Day, that most of the students enjoyed that maded the school itself look better. Coopertown isn't a big school, but it is a good school. All threee of my children have or are going there. They enjoy school and learn a lot. There only complaint is that they sometimes don't enjoy the cafeteria food, but I have none.
