After reading the previous reviews I'm shocked that someone would say great communication between parents and staff. My experience with the school has been the complete opposite. Living in 2013 I email often. Don't try this with the school because you will not get a response back. I'm going to have to go over the schools head for something very very simple. Also, my child came home and told me disturbing things that the teacher said about me in front of her. The teacher admitted this to me. I've emailed the principal and he obviously does not care because he will not acknowledge my email. Performance of staff is a reflection of leadership! Just a few words of wisdom. Also, utilize your school website. People like me that are new may not know you do not use it.

My husband and I moved to Unicoi 5 1/2 years ago and I wasn't sure if I would like the schools here. I have been very pleased with the principal and the teachers. Unicoi Elementary has a very dedicated staff. My son attended this school for 4 years and now my daughter is a student. I have had only one bad experience with a teacher and the principal took care of that. I wouldn't want my children going to any other school. I love Unicoi Elementary and would recommend it to any parent.

My daughter has epilepsy and has to be handled in a different manner than other children. Her old school was making my daughter very depressed. This school has been wonderful and my daughter loves it. They are attentive and really want their students to learn. The principal as well wants nothing but the best for the students. I would recommend this school to anyone.

There is a high level of pride in the school, however, their overall performance falls short. People are very friendly, warm and open. However, there are not many opportunities for more advanced children, and the communication lines between parents and faculty/administrators seem to have a kink. While a nice environment, this school doesn't seem to hold all the best opportunities for a child's education.
