This school has a reputation of heavy bullying especially if you are non-hispanic. The principle believes he is the king of his own realm and refuses to work with parents. The education is extremely sub-par for the national average. Most emphasis is placed on sports (surprise). The only redeeming aspect of this school is the band program.
A caring community supports this school. Opportunities abound in all areas of academics, music, and sports. The high school has been newly renovated and a new gym, sports facility and ag building have been added. A great place to send your high schoolers
While this school is slightly better than the Middle School of Abernathy, it too has some serious leadership problems. The principal has left the office while in the midst of handling a 'problem' student's situation to attend a track meet, rather than talk to the parent on the phone when they called. The propensity to send kids to ISS and then not allow homework to be done while sitting and facing a wall, but instead be copying the student rule handbook was incredibly counter productive. Sports are a main focus and kids who play them are allowed much more leeway regarding rules.
