The principal is amazing, he is always fair, and makes school a safe and fun place to be, I loved going to school here!!
AISD, middle school special education department lacks greatly in the area of providing FAPE/IDEA. Teacher quality is lacking in many areas one being actual teaching the basics of education as a whole. Our children do not attend anymore.
I would not recommend this school at this time. My children attended there. The principal seems a nice man but not up to the task of effective and fair leadership. My sons, and several of their friends, experienced or saw first hand situations where fairness didn't even appear to be a priority, although political expediency seemed high on the list. The teachers do a good job considering the lack of strong leadership. The use of boot camp in Plainview is too often used but an inadequate solution. I'd not recommend this school but have found parents who are proud of nearby schools, i.e. Spade, New Deal, and Shallowater. I am glad we took the children out of this middle school.
Abernathy Junior High is blessed with an exceptional principal, Mr. Harold Bufe. He treats the kids with respect and is fair at all times. Way to go Mr. Bufe!
