My children have attended this school. Both benefited from the opportunities to have small classes, no gang like activity, teachers who care and show it and the ability to go on local field trips. They also were able to play sports without having to try-out like in larger schools. I don't think there is a perfect school out there, but I think the quality of the education atmosphere is much better than most. They have also been a recognized campus more often than most.
The school needs an overhaul. The standard needs to be lifted.
Both of my children have attended Alpine Middle School. The faculty at AMS is made up of dedicated and hard-working individuals that care about the students. However, it is a small school with limited resources.
Here it is almost a year after the 1st parent reviewed the middle school, and things have not changed a bit. Some of the teachers are still telling the students they are stupid, and will only 'be able work at McDonalds someday'. These teachers make even the brightest kids feel stupid, not only by their insensitive remarks, but also by treating them as if they are stupid when they come to them for help. Not all of the teachers behave this way, there are several very good teachers, but for the principal to allow this sort of treatment is absurd. He would never allow the students to bully, why does he allow the teachers to bully?
The teachers in this school are judgemental, and critical of students that dont fit their ideal of 'normal'. The teachers do not offer one on one help when needed, nor do they seem to care if a student is having problems in any particular area. Teachers send kids off to 'tutorials', yet leave them alone to their worksheets and offer no help. Teachers often tell the kids they are stupid, losers, slackers, and are going nowhere in life. Students are treated with disrespect and made to feel worthless. Teachers show little interest in developing learning skills in the students, and seem to be more concerned about haircuts than good grades.
