The teachers at Anton ISD are unlike others at any school. They teach to the individual. They care about you as a person and measure their success based on the success of their students. They constantly work off the clock. Teachers are an essential part of the Anton Community. You will see them during their off hours waiting in their rooms for students who may need help, and you will see them doing ticket-taking for the high school basketball games. They narrate the football games and buy the band candy and girl scout cookies every year. I can wholeheartedly say that they were strong role models and mentors in my life that go above and beyond teaching their subject.
School has changed alot over the years. The principal that they appointed for this school is very strick and aggressive. My child is on the A&B honor roll and she gets picked on for her wanting to be herself. No child should be picked on. Treat them like you would want your own child to be treated. Many children want to move to other schools as some have already done. That says alot about this school now days. Before this principal got hired many out of town children wanted to come to this school, now they are begging their parents to take them to another school.
As someone who has attended Anton High School and Anton Elementary for eight years, this is one of the best schools i have known. The small classes provide great student/teacher one-on-one and school administrators are invested in all school aspects. The community is extremely devoted, and every student is recieved with kindness. It is a very tight-knit community I am proud to be a part of.
The Principal here is what really ruined the school. Just like the person above me stated, he routinely picks on many of the students. My son has recorded him threatening both my son and his girlfriend. Any time a parent calls to resolve the issue or ask about his behaviors he either puts on a show and pretends to be nice and generous or will be downright condescending and act like he has better things to do then take you seriously. It is a great school with a great staff and wonderful kids but the Principal is really battering the schools pride.
My 8th grader transferred to Anton last year from Shallowater. He absolutely loved it. This is a child that hated going to school for all of his 7 years. This is the first year he actually didn't want it to end. I was pleased with every aspect of the school year. The principal was so easy to talk to and always available. My son had a lot of respect for this man. My son now plans on graduating from Anton. Well worth the drive!!!
