Liberty Christian School

Our girls have really thrived academically and spiritually at Liberty. We are on our fourth year and both of our daughters have risen to the challenge of a rigorous curriculum. Liberty integrated 4MAT teaching a few years back, which educates the students according to various learning styles - it has been a hit with both kids and parents.The atmosphere at Liberty is joyful - they focus on preparing them academically for college, but even more importantly, they develop them into articulate leaders who are able to succeed in whichever field God leads them.

"i am just graduating form Liberty in may. and I for one can not believe what some of these parents and students have said. I would know better than ANYONE else on this site what Liberty is. first off, Liberty is like a second home to me" What an immature mindset to think that someone has had a different experience different than yours. Many families who began in Denton(including ours) and our finally saying "enough is enough". We are so relieved to be in a place where 4th graders are not texting boys, Christian mothers are covering their cleavages and talking about topics such as purity and modesty!

I am a sophomore at liberty, and it really is a great school. Everybody treats everybody with respect, the teachers are great for the most part, and I can leave my backpack out in the hallway without anything being taken. My only complaint is that they hand out too much homework, and I cannot do anything outside of school on weekdays. Bible, English, and science are the two classes where I actually do work in class, because I just take notes and quizzes in all my other classes.

Our family loves this school. We have been a Liberty family for six years now. The staff is wonderful and the environment is inclusive and Christ centered. The only negative I see is the stringent teaching methods. Children all learn differently and there is no teaching outside the box at Liberty. You either make the grades or not...no extra credit offered either. I would love to see development of different teaching methods instilled in the staff to assist all students and their respective natural methods of learning. Of course in saying that tuition would naturally go up. There are always pros and cons in every school but the pros definitely outweigh the cons at Liberty.

I have been a parent at Liberty Christian for 5 years now. Our experience with LIberty has been incredible. I can only speak to the ECE and lower school, but the teachers are nurturing, loving and focused on the best education for our kids. I believe there will be issues in any school you attend, but this school focuses on raising kids that are prepared spiritually and academically to face the world's challenges when they graduate. If every graduate of Liberty leaves and goes on to college prepared to live their lives to glorify God, then Liberty has done its job. I have had some issues at LIberty but always find the teachers and administration open for suggestions and eager to help. I consider liberty an extended part of our family and love it here. I would recommend it to anyone seeking a Christian Education for their children.

My oldest started at 3 &will be in 5th grade next year.She consistently ranks in the top 95% nationally and is already enjoying academic recognition from Duke UniversityTIP and has placed in an academic comp. Every teacher she's had has loved both Jesus and my girl.She knows who she is in Christ and avoids the small clique who gossip. One incident this yr when a not-so-nice staff kid passed out party invitations to some of the girls, right in front of the uninvited girls(against the rules). She was empowered to never do that. Some favoritism with staff kids in yr.book,but they corrected this year and every child was included. LCS is not a denomination, and hasNEVER claimed to be accepting of anything other than Jesus as Lord and Savior with Salvation being found in none other.While I believe LCS has not wavered in its mission to instill Kingdom principles in its students,I've met more moms who would rather talk about their square footage than what God is doing in their lives. Modesty discussions have come up in carpool based on the clothing of moms that would cause an adolescent boy to look twice. But God's truth is being shared and He is still in the heart-changing business!

My child started Liberty "Christian" as a 3 yr old and finally by the 4th grade we couldn't take it any more. The stats are twisted around to show the school as a favorite. ie. "Our school ranks the highest in the state". The kids are manipulated to get to the parents. ie. If your parents do/give this, you'll get wear jeans, etc. When we were told we didn't support the school because we didn't contribute $$$$$ above and beyond the 11K tuition was the last straw. There is alot of favoritism and cliques. Anything but Christian in my book. We left in the 5th grade for to a better school and my straight A student was behind in two subjects. There are tons of better schools in the area for the money. Don't be drawn in by "keeping up with the Joneses".

The staff and faculty ONLY like and favor students who fit into their "box". Unless you are an evangelical christian, OR if you have a child who is a GREAT athlete...DO NOT send your child to this school! Honestly, our treatment has been pathetic, and we are not even easily offended. This is exactly what is wrong with this country and human beings, as a whole!

My children attended Liberty for four years (middle and high school years). It took a few years to uncover the truth which is - the quality of the classes varies greatly depending on the teachers. Favoritism is alive and active in the classrooms and on the sports fields - the only ones who would claim it is not are those receiving the favoritism. Our choice to trust our children with the leadership at this school is the single biggest parenting mistake we have made (so far).

This is our child's 2nd year here at Liberty. (middle school) Liberty has been fantastic - with a positive, supportive, nurturing atmosphere. It is true that athletics are an intergral part of Liberty. At the MS level, it is obvious that all children are included if they want - which is a wonderful experience for them. As full time working parents that do not live near Liberty, the drive for us is difficult . We do not get to volunteer at the school due to our schedules and therefore do not know the other parents very well. Even so,we will happily and enthusiastically continue to send our child to Liberty and we feel very blessed to have found it !!

My son attended Liberty for 4 years and it was not worth the money. The teachers, while kind, are not as competent as our local suburb public schools. The school is in constant fund raising mode and athletics is clearly the primary focus. I would simply go somewhere else if you are going to spend $$$ on private education.

There are some great teachers and caring staff here and some wonderful students. Unfortunately there is a bad problem here with cliques and nothing is done to stop it. There was much more unity and acceptance of others in public school. This is something that needs to be addressed by the staff. It is hurting many of the students who deserve to have a good school experience.

I am going to be a Senior at Liberty next school year. I came in 6th grade, and I thank God he brought me hear. Is liberty hard? Yes. Do students look up to athletes? Yes. Do some kids have a hard time at first fitting in? Yes. But the most important question is "Is liberty a school that Glorifies the Lord, and promotes Christ above all else?" Yes. Its easy for those (FEW) who didn't enjoy their Liberty experience to bash the school, saying that "my kid had no friends," "teacher's were too hard on my kid," and "my kid wasn't treated fairly" but in reality, Liberty is not to blame for that. If your child didn't have many friends, its was not Liberty's fault. No high school is perfect. Liberty is one who strives to please the Lord above all else, and I count it as a second home.

I see it everyday where a kid gets brought into a group and meets new people. the ones who dont like it here are the ones who dont try to make friends. And another thing that really makes me upset is the statement that there is favoritism for faculty kids and athletes. Im related to the principle in fact along with a few teachers and a coach. Trust me, there is no favoritism here. Plus, almost every student graduates and goes to college.

I read through all of the reviews and am shocked at some of the comments. I should start by saying we are not related to anyone that works there. We've not noticed a bias towards anyone of any faith. Both parents work...we are not wealthy...we work to send our kids to Liberty. One child transfered in during the middle of her freshman year - a second during 6th grade when we moved to Texas - 2 years later - both are thriving. Liberty promotes leadership development and challenges students to excel in the classroom - all in a Christ -based environment. Do our kids have to work hard..yes. Do they have to follow the rules...yes. That's not a bad thing. Ref ALL after school activities - it is the participation/effort that is rewarded. If your students are willing to work hard and engage - Liberty is a great place to be.

It's true. Liberty is a great school if your parent or aunt or uncle or some sort of family relation works there. Exceptional athletes are also welcomed by students and teachers. Do not expect the staff or faculty to reach out for students needing help in fitting in....either you are 'Liberty Material' or you are not. And trust me - if your child is not, it's no fun. Expect rules and no grace - judgement and no mercy - if you do not fit their bill.

Good Christian school, High School preAP and AP level classes are good - mainline classes a little weak. Definite favoritism to faculty children and high flying athletes. Still overall good - almost old fashioned good High School experience.

Liberty is a good school. The biblical influence is present and the teaching staff, especially for lower school, is wonderful. But, unfortunately I have to agree with the families below that shared their experiences about nepotism, new family labeling and the cliques. To a degree, this is present in all schools but for what Liberty strives to be this does standout if you watch and listen. But if it doesn't bother you then you can see what the school is trying to do for the students and families. It all depends on what you are looking for. Expect tuition to rise each year even in this economy where many families have received cutbacks. Sadly, Liberty has lost alot of families this coming school year.

Our children attended Liberty for 3 years. Each childs experiences and grade level varied tremendously. The staff favor old friends or those that are the big givers. The parents are very snobby (especially the ones that have known each other for a long time). The kids were not 'christ like'. When we were new, there was no 'buddy' family given to us. We are a 2 parent working family, which did not fit in with the Moms and Dads that could work in their schedule to be at school during work hours. The academics are very old schooled with sit at your desk type activities. Not very much hands on activities or inquiry based teaching. Public school is so much better. My children are treated equally (they werent at Liberty). Their friends and teachers exhibit more of a christian like character than those at Liberty!

Our children have been at Liberty Christian School for nine years. One graduated last year and the others started in kindergarten and are still there. We feel like our entire family has been blessed by our experiences at Liberty and are greatfull that our kids have spent most of their school years in an environment that fosters each child's worth in God's eyes. We believe they have recieved an exemplery education and most important, have been given a world view from a Christian standpoint. We have found the teachers, for the most part, strive to give our kids the tools they need to succeed. It is still our kid's responsibility to determine what they do with those tools. Liberty Christian's staff has always been very responsive when we have approached them with our challenges. Our kids are constantly reminded of their value and responsibilities in God's eyes. We feel very blessed.
