This rating has to do with my child's teach this year in 3rd grade. This was a new teacher brought in from Arlington. She does not motivate the children; she is the only 3rd grade teacher that follow the same teaching convention as the other teachers in that grade. This is visibly causing her students to be behind the other 3rd grade students in math/reading. I am teaching my child not her! If I wanted to home school I would have done that!

I think my low rating has mostly to do with my child's own teacher. In the First grade, it is apparently VERY important for the children to work VERY independently. I frankly think that is a cop-out. First grade is too young for that. My child really hates her class, and is sick and tired (as am I) with the fact that she is openly reprimanded in class when Mom and Dad forget to sign a paper - by the teacher's deadline. My child did have three really wonderful days recently though. She came home happy, and woke up ready to go back to school. They had a substitute. That really says it all. I'm also told that this teacher and their spouse are very close friends, and spends a lot of social time with the Principal and his wife outside of work. That says a lot too. Thank God we have moved, and she will attend Smith next year.

This is NOT one of Mansfied's finest. As you can see, the rating are going down. There is a reson for that. Listen to your children and report what you know. Some parents feel like that don't have a voice and just let the bad things continue. Stay up and be heard. Please don't allow all of this bad stuff continue at this school. Stand up and be heard! We are our children's voices.

Beware of this school. It is unfocused. The prinicipal and asst. prinicipal would rather keep their friendship with the staff than focus on the children education and safety. They have a blind eye to what's going on. Parents - please go and see what's going on at this school and listen to your kids. If they come home and tell you things that you just wouldn't believe is happening. Please believe it. It's some awful things happening at this school.

I am a grandparentof a special need child that is attending this school. I also have another child that has attended Janet Brockett and has moved on to a Middle school in MISD system. I could never say enough good things about this school and the staff.
I really loved my daughter's first grade teacher. She always kept us informed by sending home notes and emails. Any time I emailed her with a question she was very prompt in responding. She really helped my child learn to read and understand math. It was a great year!

I absolutely love teaching at Janet Brockett Elementary; I have never worked with such a dedicated and compassionate staff. I have never had a class full of as many invovled parents as I do this year; they have been absolutely amazing. This is my first year at Janet Brockett, and I am impressed with the principal's dedication to meet the needs of every child. I truly appreciate the teamwork from everyone involved at this school.

This is the best school I have ever taught at. The principal is always taking input from parents and staff and working to make our school better and better each year. He expects a lot out of us but it is all for the betterment of the students. He works really hard to give struggling students every available resource. His door is always open to hear questions, concerns, and comments. Sometimes parent participation is not as high as other schools but that is because our parents work hard to make a good life for their kids. They are not always available to donate their time but I believe they do their best. Our campus is fun loving, respectful, and child centered. There is a lot of learning that goes on here that seems to be overlooked. Everything from laptop computers to theater is incorporated in their learning.

I've had children in this school for the past 3 years. We transferred from an elementary they loved so was a bit hesitant at first. However, both have done very well and enjoy the school and the staff. There have been times I ve had to contact the teacher or principal with concerns and each time I was pleased with how quickly and attentively they responded. I feel the school management is dedicated to providing the best experience for both students and parents. As a parent I have appreciated knowing my concerns were taken seriously. I have also seen them use creative and interpersonal solutions to resolve problems between students, and I commend that.

I am extremely unhappy with this school as it is lacking academically. Parent involvement is low, yet not highly encouraged. It has been my experience that struggling children do not receive any assistance through available resources, unless they are failing. Parent concerns seem to go unacknowledged.

My child has been at this school for the past 2 years and we have been very pleased with our experience here. The teachers are very involved with the kids and seem genuinely interested in ensuring they have a positive learning experience.

This is my son's first year at Janet Brockett Elementary. The Prinicipal and staff are awesome! Parent involvement is HIGHLY encouraged. It has been tougher this year with the background checks an the raptor system but as a parent I am very happy that the school district cares enough about their students to keep them safe! The teachers work with individual students who need extra help and are always willing to do whatever they need to do to make our children successful in school and in life.

Janet Brockett is a great school. This is our first year there and my child loves it. The expectations are high; the teachers are caring; and it's a safe, happy learning environment. There are lots of extracurricular opportunities for parents and kids. Parent involvement is not terribly high; however, the school is located in a area in which most families need dual income. I believe parents are involved in ways they can be

Wow! I am so surprised to read a negative response to Janet Brockett. My child is on her third year here. We have had issues that we have discussed with administration and they reacted quickly and fairly. It has been my experience that reasonable complaints are handled with speed and fairness. The administration is loving, firm and fair. I spend time working up at my daughters school and have had the opportunity to watch administration and teachers in action. They are very well staffed and trained. They use cutting edge technology, train the kids in creative and productive ways, and are always warm and friendly to those they meet in the hall. It may appear to some that the teachers are not teaching because they incorporate a variety of teaching methods to ensure that each child's need is addressed and all the children learn. I invite you to see for yourself.

Unfortunately, I have been overall disappointed with the structure, curriculum, teachers, and methods of this school. The whole system seems to be unfocused, and it appears that the children are the ones suffering. There is no leadership in the school, and concerned parents are made to feel ignorant, of little importance, and a nusance. Needless to say, my child will not be attending this school after the end of this year! I strongly urge concerned and dedicated parents to research additional schools in the area, for their children's best benefit.

My daughter has been a student at this school for the past three years that the school has been open. We have had excellent teachers and have enjoyed our first educational experience there.

It is a great growing school. The teachers are very kind indeed and very willing to improve the overall atmosphere of the school. It is one of the best schools indeed around.

Brockett is not one of Mansfield ISD's finest. I truely question the quality of the education offered at this school. I also feel that problems that arise are never addressed by the principal. Discipline is lacking at this school and I am disappointed in how situations involving violence, have been handled. Parent involvement is low, yet the teachers that my child has had do not even encourage it...in fact it is the complete opposite. Overall, I am disappointed with this school and will do what I can to get my children out of this school district.
