Profile Completeness

ADVANCED

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

As a parent, I think this school is great! The teachers and staff are so warm and inviting. It's always nice to walk in and hear them call each child by name, with a smile and "good morning". I really feel this staff is here for the advancement of my children rather than just a paycheck. I really can't say enough great things about this school!

Volunteering at this school is difficult, I tried to volunteer but I can't because I have out of state drivers license and the front desk told me they can not do the investigation or I can not volunteer because I do not have a Texas drivers license. Even if you have a military I.D.. How come their investigation is limited to Texas drivers license holder ONLY?

Patterson is one of two K-4 elementary schools in the Kennedale district. We have been there a year and are pleased with the support and personal attention given to each child. Our daughter enjoys school and is currently in the 1st Grade. They have an active PTA and have some ingenious positive reinforcement tools. One of those is the P.R.I.D.E. points system - this has our daughter jumping off her bus excited that she earned more points. In fact, with those points, she saved up enough to get to go read to a kindergarten classroom (and this from a girl who initially didn't want to admit that she could read). Another classroom-specific prize we have enjoyed learning about is the common color-coded red-yellow-green, but with an added "sparkle" level that they all want. So, when the kids stay on green or better all week, they get a special classroom privilege (like taking shoes off in the classroom or bringing a stuffed friend to class on Friday). All-in-all, the school is top notch in my book. The kids learn, they're not forgotten or left wanting more attention, and it feels like a little community where parents are included often.

I am so impressed with the faculty and staff at this school. They work so hard to help students be successful and require only their best efforts. The students are happy and enjoy the fun activities at night.

Leadership lacks motivation, ways of relating to the students, adaptability and positive reinforcement, it takes these as well as knowledge and skills to create strengths that lead to outstanding performance. Test scores are just a small part to having a successful school. Homework as well as parent involvement have carried many of these children as well as the school to success.

RF Patterson Elementary is the best place on Earth to work and be involved in the community. I love coming to work every day and challenging my students to learn. The administration is extremely supportive and interactive with our faculty. RFP is highly encouraging and learner centered. Students are a number one priority and are consistently inspired to become the best they can achieve. Thanks to all the admin., parents, students and co workers that make this the place to be!

I have two kids at this school. One is going to be in 4th next year. I have never been told anything about a dress code for volunteers. Classroom visits are not discouraged by all of the teachers. I recently spent the whole day with my daughter. We love this school. We really love the dual language program that has begun here. Keep up the great work

This is my child's first year at R.F. Patterson, starting in Kindergarten and participating in the Dual Language program. My child's teacher is so wonderful and I truly believe she provided my child with a solid learning foundation for first grade and beyond. Our child's teacher always encouraged parent participation in the classroom or through the school s organized activities such as literacy night and math / science night. I also had positive interaction with the principal, other kindergarten teachers, and parents that volunteered to make the school great.

The campus's official rule limits parent's classroom visits to only 20 minutes at preapproved times. Apparently they don't enforce their own rule about this or the volunteer's dress code.

Sincere thanks to RFP and KISD- especially T & J's "special people" and teachers. My Associate Principal sister (from another district) sat in on our recent ARD and was very impressed (AGAIN!) with the care & attention my super special guys are getting. They continue to amaze us all with their progress! I too am looking forward to seeing the EXEMPLARY banner!

RF Patterson at this time only gets 3 stars from me. We started with the school 4 yrs ago. In this past year the front staff (mainly the receptionist & nurse) are rude, short & act like they could care less to be there. I love my childrens teachers & the principal seems to be nice, but the staff in the front office needs work. on another note, i am at ends with the school on some issues my youngest child has. they don't seem to really want to help me, or they pacify me is how it feels. i want them to work with me, not against me and not pretend they are working with me. my childs health depends on their cooperation & the cooperation from the other parents of the class.....and that's where we have the biggest issue. they aren't requiring it from the other parents.

This has been the best year for my child at R.F. Patterson. His teacher has worked miracles with him. He looks forward to going to school every day and we know that the teachers at Patterson care about him as a child. The new principle has brought such joy to the campus. She has a wonderful influence on my son and the teachers there. We will miss Patterson next year when we move on to fifth grade.

I'm a parent of a child in Ms. Wright's classroom. I have found my child's education to be superior to that of my friend's children who are the same age and also in the KISD. Besides the outstanding teaching staff, it is refreshing to see such passionate administrators. Ms. Sublette and her AP are a breathe of fresh air to a previously stuffy and military like school. Ms. Sublette is always welcoming to parents. She is genuine and shows a sincere interest in the needs and concerns of parents. On a seperate note, I do wish administration would do something about the negative and derogatory staff member who are resisitint to change. There are still several teachers at the school who do not pull small groups and are not meeting the new requirements for RTI. Luckily, my child is in a great instructional setting.

RF Patterson Elementary is the best place on Earth to work! I love coming to school each day to see what opportunities arise to inspire my students to learn and become the best they can be. The teachers are supported by our principal and administration. We have an environment that encourages exemplary!

This school has a wonderful kindergarten program. My daughters teacher is Mrs. Scott. She is amazing! She has brought my daughter so far personaly, educational and she is just an all around good person. The other teachers are all nice too. When you drop your kids off in tjhe morning, the curb side teachers do everything but give you a cup of coffee. It's just wonderful. If I had to have one negative comment, it wold be the principle. She is never around. I have seen her maybe 3 times this year. She seems fake, like the smile is pasted on her face. She hasn't done anything to me or my child, she is just cold. But I still love this school!

This school has come a long way since last year. The new principal brings happiness and excitement along with many new opportunities. There are so many things that the parents and children can get involved in...Battle of the Books, newsletter, a garden club, etc. The PTA this year has been outstanding and worked very hard to get that way. This is only the beginning of many great years to come.

Hopefully, this school has changed. B/C, prior to this year..it was a sad situation. There has been zero parent involvement. The pta board has tried to do things, but w/ little to no support of any parents. As far as curriculum, they are way behind. They do not ability group. And, they are a title 1 school, therefore, the best you can expect is that you child is taught on the average to below average level. We have left Patterson b/c of how far they are behind other schools.

I am am on the PTA board and I would like to say that I am very proud of the work that my board members have acomplished this year. They are a wonderful group of parents who have given up there time to help the school, even though we all have other commitments. And as far as the parent involvment, if you dont like it do something about it and get involved. Dont sit on the side lines and judge if your not going to do anything to help make a difference. We have lots of parental invovment, yes we can always use more but to say we have none is a slap in the face to the many parents who do volunter. I would like to say that as far as the way our PTA is being run, it is far better than it has been in the past 3yrs.

Patterson has come a long way this year! It's still early in the school year, but I have already seen many changes for the better! Our new principal is full of energy and loves working with the children and staff. Our teachers have always been great, but they seem happier with their work environment! When they're happier, the children are, too! Our PTA is much more visible than they've been the past few years! We, as parents, are given many invitations and opportunities to participate. That's up to US!! As far as being 'pushed' into it, every PTA and student benefits from more parent involvement. It shows our kids their education is important to us! Not everyone can volunteer their time, but everyone can help by joining PTA... and the school and the children will be better off because of it! How sad that not everyone would jump at that opportunity!!

This school has came along way since Aug. I am very proud to have three children with in the KISD. RF Patterson loves their volunteers! It is up to the parent that wants to be involved. We the PTA strive to get all questions answered and to please others. We have only had good to say about us this year. The teachers enjoy this year and we can see smiles and love within the halls. Our new principle brings great pride. The attitude she has is amazing. She shows loves to and brings much respect to our school. Our assit. principle Mr. Ector has been an ICON here at PATTERSON. There is always him with a smile in the hallway to great you 'good morning'. So as far as any bad comment on RF Patterson, you need to help make the difference! We want to protect our children, that is why!

As a dad of 2 young children in the school, I would have to say that this elementary school has impresed me. I joined the PTA even though I knew I would not be able to attend every meeting and I dont get to help as much as id like too but I also know that I am setting an example to my children by showing them I am involved in their education and that I support them in any little way I can and if that means paying 5 dollars to do so than I do not see it as being pushed into anything. I see it as a welcomed opportunity.

I have two children at patterson and have been happy in the past. This year, while it is a period of transition, I see tons of improvements. We have an active principal and she is making things better at every turn. PTA is a MILLION times better this year than in any previous year we have been there. I'm proud that my children attend this school. Behind the times they are not...this is the first year for our dual language program and it is off to a wonderful start. Great job RFP, Mrs. Sublette, teachers, PTA and all of you involved parents!!!!!

I loved this school up until this last year. Everything has changed. My kids dont even like going anymore. I'm not sure if its due to the new principal or what. Last year my daughter had a teacher that was a little scatter brained but this year both my kids seem to have good teachers. As far as parent involvment...well there is none. I went to a PTA meeting and well no one was their except the 'board'. I would think that the school would like to encourage volunteering but instead they want us to join the PTA in order for us to be 'allowed' the right to be a room mom. I dont like to be pushed into an organization that is not well run. The school itself when we started was recognized and now it is just acceptiable...not for me though.

I have been very pleased with RF Patterson and honesty, the parent involvement is up to US! The PTA and school give so many opportunities for us to be involved. But I do wish more moms and dads would step up and do it. If more would take an interest so that we can make this a fantastic school. You hear people complaining but you never see them volunteering to help the teachers and do all of the things to make sure that the school runs smoothly.

While the invidvidual teaches our child has had have been wonderful and very supportative, we have had serious problems with our school regarding safety and academic issues. A large part of this has to do with the current principal, but it all extends to problems with the distric as a whole and the fact that Patterson is not treated equally compared to the other elementary school in the district. Though the PTA has tried, we also generally agree that more parents could be involved up at the school. Submitted by parents.

This school has been a great disappointment to our family. It is a title 1 school. And, has very, very little parent involvment. We have had wonderful teachers. But, feel that the school is way behind the times in areas of curriculum. And, we are glad that they are getting a new principal next year!!!!

Both of my children have attended this school from start to finish. Great school with an excellent staff. The only two problems that I see is the lack of parent involvement and the program to identify gifted students. The current program makes no sense what so ever.

I really have not had much trouble from this school. Although I do not really think some of the office staff is particularly nice or pleasant. I think Mrs. Vanwyk is an excellent teacher. I do not know the principle but the assistant principle is great.
