Handles bullying effectively: Strongly disagree

Bullying and racism is swept under the rug.

Develops character: Disagree

Racism is allowed and goes unpunished. Teachers try to hide such behavior from parents. My daughter experienced racism at butler but when she spoke with the assistant principal, she was told NOT to tell her parents

Amount of homework: Disagree

- a
Students are not properly taught in an effective way to better help them understand the tasks assigned

My kids have attended Butler for 4 years and it is truly a great school! The staff and teachers are amazing. They are helpful, kind, and love what they do! There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer (in & out of the classroom), but we are never pressured to volunteer. Lots of year round activities too... the Father/Son disc golf tournament, Father/Daughter dance, Halloween carnival and End of year barbecue. Wonderful group of children and teachers. This school is definitely worth moving for or transferring to!

Develops character: Agree

- a
There is a Kindness Club, and several different programs where the students are encouraged to make the right choices, be respectful, etc. 'Always do the right thing, even when no one is watching!'

- a
The parents and students at this school live in a bubble. These children (& parents) have no idea what the real world is like. The administration tolerates bullying b/c of "political reasons and associations." If you are WHITE, PRIVILEGED & all up in the school's biz (ie, Dad's Club, PTA, etc.), this is the school for your child! Finally, if you want a school where MORE is expected of the CHILDREN than the ADULTS who TEACH them, THIS IS THE SCHOOL FOR YOU!!!!

Teacher effectiveness: Strongly agree

- a
Always looking for innovating ways to teach and engage their students, Butler teachers are gifted!

Amount of homework: Agree

- a
Varies by grade. Depends on how you feel about homework as a parent. Some might think it's not enough; others might think it's too much!

Develops character: Strongly agree

- a
Students are encouraged to and rewarded for exhibiting character traits through the MVP of Character program. Kids in each grade who demonstrate such traits (i.e., caring, honesty) are invited to a special ceremony and lunch "on the stage" each month.

- a
Incredibly involved PTA and Dad's Club, unique academic and creative opportunities for students and outstanding teachers and administration. Butler students consistently score well on state academic assessments, but more importantly, are encouraged to be good citizens - polite, respectful, engaged, and active. From the fall carnival, Garden Club, Chess Club, Popcorn in the Park, Daddy-Daughter Dance, teacher appreciation events, Kindergarten Circus, talent show, book fair, Fun Run, Father-Son Frisbee Golf to fundraisers for the local animal shelter, Christmas angel tree, coat drive to field trips, engaged learning, smart classrooms and forward thinking educators - all combine to create an incredible learning environment. Butler is a very special place.
