My child went to Ashworth from K-6. We felt that she got a great education and would recommend it to anyone. The administration does a great job at keeping the parents informed. After each grading period, they hold an awards assembly to recognize all the accomplishments of each child, from grades, to perfect attendence, and citizenship. Parents are encoraged to attend. The principal, Ms. Linderman is strict but very fair and caring. Parents are kept informed. The students all seem to excel at Ousley Jr. High, their next step.

I have two children that attend Ashworth. The principal sometimes forgets they are children. She doesn't like to be questioned! Their special education services are terrible. They want children to be same level, learning styles, and they teach them is this way. They don't believe in doing what it takes to teach a child to succeed. They want the child to fit into a box. It is sad but they aren't accepting of different learners and children. The great thing about this school is their extracurricular activities.

My kids where in the 2nd and 4th grades when they first attended ashworth elementary. Now they are in the 12th and 10th grades at one of our local high school. My experiment with Ashworth was wonderful years for me and my family. The principal was the most caring and effective leader. She always put her kids first. She made sure that ashworth always had quality teachers and A great enviroment.Thanks Ashworth for giving my kids A great educational beginning.

I have children at Ashworth, as well as teach there; Ashworth is such a fantastic school! I am so priviledged to work with an awesome faculty. All the teachers and staff work their absoluted best to see all students' potential maximized by providing excellence. After working in many schools, and several states, I can truly say, Ashworth is the best!

Ashworth provides a wonderful environment for my kids and they enjoy attending school everyday. The teachers are always there for the parents when we need to discuss anything and we are always kept informed of our childs behaviors. We are grateful to have this wonderful school for our kids.

My step-daughter attends Ashworth & I love the web information provided. However, it would be nice to pull information (from this site) about your child's progress. You would be able to get current grades, areas of improvement need and other facts about your child. I know it is a long way, but the schools in MN use a technique similar to this suggestion & it really helps with learing and/or discipline problems. Overall, this is one of the best elementaries in Arlington.

My 7th grade daughter completed her elementary education this year at Ashworth. She completed K-6 at Ashworth. I am continuously amazed at the quality of teachers at this schools. I have a daughter currently in 4th grade and I have found the same to be true of her teachers. I find the principal at this school to be a tough but effective leader. I attribute a good deal of Ashworth's success to her leadership skills. I have a 4 year old starting Kindergarten next year and have complete confidence that she will achieve the same success as her older sisters have done at Ashworth.

We have not had an easy time with the principal but the vice principal is very easy to work with and very knowledgeable when it comes to children with learning and behavioral differences. She has gone out of her way to work with us. The teachers are all wonderful. Mrs. Neill, our sons 4th grade teacher is absolutely the best teacher in the world. She genuinely loves and cares about her students and it shows.

About the tests


In 2012-2013, the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) was used to test students in reading and math in grades 3 through 8; in writing in grades 4 and 7; in science in grades 5 and 8; in social studies in grade 8; and end-of-course assessments for English I, II, and II, Algebra I and II, biology and US History. STAAR is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of Texas. The goal is for all students to score at or above the state standard.

The different student groups are identified by the Texas Education Agency; if there are a small number of students in a particular group, the state doesn't report data for that group.
