Two of my children go to school here. One is in Kindergarten and the other is in PK3. The teachers are awesome Mrs. Moosa is so sweet as well as her assistant Mrs. Laura my daughter has just blossomed out of her shell and has learned so much. I was pretty shocked how fast she has learned to be so little. My other daughter has Ms. Shoemaker and it has been a struggle with my daughter. I have had to have constist contact with the teacher and we have discuss the problems and concerns to improve my daughters efforts. I think both of these teachers are really great and the school is a really good school. It doesn't have a PTA but i really do not see that as a problem for the school i think it is more of the parents part. It's really sad how there are so may people that are not involved and on top of there kids. But overall Burgin has been great for my kids.

My son attended Kindergarten here. His teacher was very angry with the students from day one (and admitted the district had moved her from the third grade; which is where her heart was). My son entered the school knowing the alphabet, his colors, how to count to 100... and he hadn't learned anything new by Christmas. He was one of the only kids reading in Kindergarten, so his teacher set him up to read for the principal... sad thing is, that she didn't teach him how to read, we did!!! Thankfully he got into a great charter school the next year (barely passed the tests to get in). NO, I don't miss Burgin at all.

After Having horror story after horror story at a nearby school in Arlington, I sat with the Principle, discussed my concerns at length, and left feeling more than comfortable with moving my kindergarden student into this school. Today was his first day, and he came home happier than I have seen him in months.... Thank you, great job!!!!

Burgin is a culturally diverse school with staff members that value individual students, their interests, cultural differences, and academic abilities. The lack of a PTA hinders the connection between parents and teachers; however, the Family Involvement Liaison is awesome

Burgin is a really good school and my child really enjoys going there. However I would love for there to me more parent involvement. There is no kind of involvment as fas as a PTA. Pretty much all of the schools had a christmas program for the kindergarten classes, but they did not at Burgin :( I need more school spirit from the parents.

I am proud to send my childrent to Burgin. Two have graduated and will start college next year...I have been with the school since it opened in 1999. I still have two their and they are getting a quality well rounded education. I am most impressed with the K division all of the K teachers are simply wonderful.

Burgin elementary is not a very child friendly school (or adult friendly). My kid did come with a record of being jumpy but they had him pegged even before the first day. we left the 2nd week to remynse which has worked great 4 him and the school.

My children attended Dunn for 2 years and the oldest is autistic. I feel very lucky to have had such a wonderful experience as I have heard some horror stories from parents of autistic children in public schools. My child was able to stay in the regular classroom and did just as well as the other children! The teachers and counslers were amazing and I fully credit them for his success! They truly bonded with my kids and I was soo sad to have to leave! But I can tell you if they don't like their new school we will be happy to go back to Burgin no matter how far I have to drive!

As the parent of a special needs child in special education I can say this is not the school you want your child to attend. The staff was less than cooperative when it came to anything other than the 'typical' student.

Burgin is one of the best schools my children have attended. The principal is great, she helped me encourage my daughter that it was ok to miss mommy and she would be just fine in school. The counselor has helped me also with the issues I have with my children (Twins 8). The Second grade team is awesome. My children's grades and behavior has benefited with this school. I would highly recommend it to anyone. This school also has a wonderful mentor prgram between the students and the staff.

This is a very racially diverse school that I am proud to have my daughter attend. She loves school very much and enjoys her kindergarten class. Test scores are improving for this new school.
