Joslin has to be one of the best little elementary schools in Austin. This was my daughter s first year at public school; she had been attending private school from PreK through 2nd Grade. She was tested for Dyslexia at the end of her 1st grade year and it was determined she was dyslexic. We tried to allow the private school to help her the following year but they just were not equipped to do so. She LOVES Joslin she has only been there one semester and is reading on grade level. She still needs to work on the stamina but I am just amazed at her progress she was a full year behind when we started even after attend a summer program before we got to Joslin. Her class teacher truly cares about the children and they know it. The reading specialist here is amazing and was the reason I chose this elementary. The kids are so nice, and if anyone every does start to not be nice the staff seems to be immediately aware and quickly responds to even smallest unkind act, such as laughing when someone falls. I just can t say enough good things about this little school.
Wonderful educational community! The school is pretty small, so everyone knows and watches out for each other. Wouldn't want to send my kids anywhere else.
great school with great teachers! my son actually likes going to school now... and his grades are up tremendously! that says a lot!
We transferred our daughter here after a bad Kindergarten RoundUp at her assigned school. We are highly impressed with Joslin in general - teachers, parental involvement, adminstration - everything. It's been a great experience so far.
I am not only a parent of a Joslin student but also a teacher myself. I am very pleased with the quality of the teaching and administrative support. The entire school works as a team for the overall good of the students. My child has learned so much and is looking forward to the next school year.
this school is the best ,it has good teachers, I know that because my son gos there
Academic Programs are good. Extracurricular activities were offered. The level of parent involvement was good.
Joslin Elementary School has some of the highest quality teachers I have encountered in 12 years experience in public schools. Music, art, and PE rotate, with one of these classes held each school day. Joslin students participate in activities including science fair, Student Council, chior, and 5th grade volleyball. Unfortunately, with cuts to public school funding, the nurse and assistant principal were cut to part time positions for the 2005-2006 school year. Parent involvement at the school varies, with some parents highly involved and others less involved.
My kids started at Joslin but we moved. I loved the teachers and support staff but principal is not friendly.
I am very impressed with the staff at Joslin, including the Principle. I've seen him interact with the children and call them by name... I will defiantly stay with in the school zone so both my children may attend Joslin in full.. Monica Lopez
Love the staff. They really seem to care and are certain to be sure kids learn. But they really really need a new principal. He is unapproachable.
While the teachers at Joslin are great and the assistant principal is wonderful, out going and very involved with the kids; the principal is not entirely in touch with the kids or his staff. He could definitely use some work on his people skills.
Three of my children have attended this school, since they had to transfer due to moving out of the district, they were deeply disappointed. Joslin is a great school for children. The teachers and staff are wonderful and great to work with. We will miss them all very much.
