Welcoming, Warm environment for children of all abilities. This school can meet your needs whatever they may be. And the teachers and staff are top notch. We had some great years at Davis and will miss Dr. Hall and the staff he has put together there.

Davis is a great school. Our principal, Dr. Hall, was just named the AISD principal of the year. The teacher staff is excellent and parents are very active. The school has great programs: lego robotics, math pentathlon, destination imagination, mare week, international week, etc.. Children are excited about learning at Davis. Our family continues to have an overwhelmingly positive experience.

I concur with the parent review below. We have 2 boys at Davis and it continues to be a fabulous learning environment. Dr Hall is an AMAZING principal and should be national principal of the year. The teachers are dedicated and the boys will walk away with a first class elementary education at a school they love.

We are so plessed to have our son at Davis! The faculty and staff are great and very invloved with the kids. There are so many volunteers that really help everything run smoothly too. My son especially likes the weekly labs in computer and science that not all schools offer. I cannot say enough great things about the school.

The administration is very responsive, and encourages the children to do their best in a very positive way. The parental involvement at the school is second to none.

Davis Elementary is an excellent school with great teachers and wonderful leadership. I particularly like the 'team' teaching approach and cross-discipline tie-in's. (i.e. many of the academic study units also have a PE, Art, Music related units.) Great parental involvement/volunteerism at this school. We moved to a larger home a few years ago and specifically chose a home in the same area so that our younger child can continue to attend school at Davis Elementary. Highly recommended!

Response to other postings. Special ed. Children are special ed. For a rea. You can not judge a five minute viewing and sum the situation just from that. The staff is excellent and very experienced. The childen are learning even sometimes when they are giving consistwnt teaching. Davis is a great place to be regular ed. Or special ed. I have seen other schools a lot worse. Believe me be thankful
My son loved Davis. He remembers all the MARE activities and wonderful teachers.

I was not referring to any child with autism. Come to the lunch room to witness how children behave or spend time in the classroom, and you will know what I am talking about. Quite frankly, I am tired of a select few kids in each class who act out, and are not disciplined at home. Then it becomes the school's job to discipline the kids, and it becomes the teacher's responsibility to do it, and they have it tough enough. I am talking about kids using cuss words, screaming at adults, hitting, acting up, indecent exposure, etc. I have witnessed these incidents, and the kids behavior continue to become worse, and I am shocked that it is happening at such a young age. Again, I am not referring to any child in PPCD or with disabilities, because I do see them, and understand them.

After reading the last reiew I have to post. Davis is a great school. My son has been in the preschool program for children disablities there this year. (We were at a different school last year that was very lacking in this area.) My son may be one of the children the previous poster mentioned with behavior problems. The PPCD classes are in the same hallway as the pre-K classes. It is not simply poor up bringing, it is called autism. The training the PPCD staff at this school has is excellent. The principle does a good job including SpEd kiddos in the classroom & has a better understanding of their needs compared to other principles. I feel lucky that my son is able to attend this school. Next time the previous posted sees a child in the hall with behavior issues I hope they won't be so quick to judge.

When we came to Austin, we just asked for a good school and safe area. We got a loving community. Davis pulls together top administration (we love you, Dr. Hall!!) stunning parents, teachers who offer love and experience, and kids who work hard to be their best. Just go by any time (and I mean any time) and you'll see the artwork on the walls, the learning in the music or art room and the lessons in the library. An example, moms occasionally dropped by recently to plug tiles in a sign that will go up outside the school. Hours and love went into this sign that working moms -- and dads -- made possible. The janitorial staff knows your name and the cafeteria monitors always say hi. And the cafeteria ladies always give you the best cut of meat!! ...Davis Rocks!! Laura M.

Outstanding balance of strong academics and excellent activities to produce well-rounded students. Staff truly cares about the Davis students and the atmosphere within the school is of one happy family. Awesome PTA and the parental involvement is strongly encouraged-a model that should be duplicated in all schools in Austin ISD. Would highly recommend Davis to any family moving to Austin.

Davis has a wonderful Special Ed team that has done many good things for my children and many others. The Principal is a big part of why Davis is grat place for any child. Most parents do not want their children to leave Davis. happy Parent

The teachers are overall very good and communicative. My child had one teacher who did not communicate effectively, but she was an exception. Excellent library and good literacy programs. Good diversity in the classrooms and emphasis on learning about other cultures. Overall recommended.

Davis Elementary is a school that strives for academic excellence. With a low turnover rate for teachers there is great continuity from year to year. Many extracurricular activities are available, for all ages of kids. Parental involvement might be the most outstanding aspect of this school. While there is always room for improvement, our family feels like Davis is a wonderful, nurturing learning environment for our children.

Davis Elementary is a school which strives for success on all fronts. Opportunities for extracurricular activities abound, for all grade levels as well. Parental involvement is incredible, probably one of the most appealing aspects of the school. While always room for improvement, we feel that Davis Elementary is the best learning environment for our children.

Will Davis Elementary School is a great school with huge parent participation. Activities are well organized, educational and fun. My experience with the teachers up to this point have been great. I have two more children to go to Davis and couldn't be more confident of their care.
