Truly exceptional administrative, teaching and support staff. Inspiring mix of children from all over the world enthusiastic about learning and becoming responsible adults. Beautiful family atmosphere with a strong sense of personal safety, active no-bullying policy and dignity-protecting disciplinary practices. The school counselor is super-experienced, the specials (PE, Art & Music) teachers are always enthusiastic, parent volunteers go beyond the call of duty and the "extras" the school provides in the learning environment is remarkable. My child has been here for some years, and I wouldn't have him in any other school. :-) Patton simply ROCKS!

We Love, Love, Love Patton! Our school has grown by 200 students this year and it seemed like a smooth tranistion. The teachers, staff and administration are wonderful and we look forward to more years of excellent education!

Our son has ADHD and we started kinder at a local private school thinking it would help him adjust to school. It was not until we transferred to Patton that he took off academically. Our son is doing very well with supportive teachers, a loving and accepting counselor and superb principle.

Patton Elementary is a community of teachers, aides, clerks, custodians, and parents who work together as a family to meet the academic, physical, emotional, and ethical needs of our children. There is an atmosphere of compassion and commitment to be found here. Teachers only leave our school to retire, to relocate with a spouse, or to recuperate from ill health. We love it here. It is our second home.

The principal and teaching staff care and can relate to students and parents. Problem resolution is quick and fair. Academics are of paramount importance, but are tempered with fun. Love love love Patton!

We have just completed another great year at Patton. I am a parent that wants to be involved and there are many opportunities for parents at Patton to be as involved as they want to be. I also like the fact that even though in numbers Patton is a fairly large school, the attitude and atmosphere of principal, teachers, staff and other parents is very friendly and 'small school', which provides a comfortable palce for my child to learn and build a sense of community and confidence. Patton is like family!

Patton focuses on teaching kids that would not perform well on the TAKS test. AISD also has a policy that prevents the school from tracking. Tracking is a technique used by some schools to group kids of like skills. This means that children that are smart will not be pushed or challenged. Keep in mind that part of the schools funding is determined by how well they do on the TAKS test. In my case my son has not learned anything new in math since before Christmas (its now April). Also, they fly the flags of the countries that make of the UN in the main entrance. You will find very little time is spent on teaching American Heritage and a lot of time spent on multi-culturally customs.

Patton is wonderful, our 2 kids enjoy their teachers because maintain order and structure in the classroom and manage to have fun too. Our kids are challenged and praised and we find the principal the same with the teachers, it's a trickle down effect. Kids are taught to be kind and sensitive to differences in beliefs and race, the counselor works with each grade level to ensure the kids are kind.

Our son has been with Patton for the second year and so far we have been satisfied with the result. His current teacher is excellent. She makes sure that parents are informed about different activities in the classroom and school as well as children's behavior. Teachers do not pamper and baby the students, but encourage them to be indepentdent, which my husband and I also love. All in all, Patton is a great school. :)

Patton is an excellent school with experienced teachers, a dedicated principal and, for the most part, involved parents. Also since Patton is a slightly older school it has been insulated from the busting-at-the-seams growth other schools have experienced. The best thing about Patton is the community feeling within the school maintaining a comfortable student-teacher ratio.

My step-daughter was new at Patton this year. We were at first excited and had heard great things about the school. End of the year we are very disappointed in the school. Our daughter had a great teacher but she was forced to leave in the middle of the year. We no longer have communication between school and home. I really hope Patton takes a long look at its weak points and finds ways to improve itself over the summer months.

I have had two children at Patton for the last 4 years and it's been a great experience for all of us. They enjoy their classwork, definitely seem to be challenged, and their teachers are really great - they know their material and can translate complicated material so kids can understand. The bonus in being in a public school is that there are host of other kids to interact with so they have had a lot of interpersonal experiences with nice kids, iffy kids, and bullies. Bullies, though not tolerated, do happen and - in our experience - are dealt with quickly. We've had two different principals with distinct leadership styles - the current principal runs a really tight ship (so to speak) but will take action if any parent presents a concern or issue. Lots of volunteerism at the school (myself included).

There are definitely times when I wish my children went to a schools with higher ratings -- I feel like all the neighborhood schools are considered much better than Patton. But my children are happy here, and I don't think the tests scores really affect them. The teachers for the most part are wonderful and experienced.

I was a little tentative about Patton. We had just moved to Texas and the school was a little older than what we had come from. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of teachers, the caring effective teaching and great kids that attend Patton. It focuses on academics but also has a variety of extra-curricular activities.
