High schools in Texas?

We are planning on moving to Texas after the new year, so far we know what area to rent in before buying but the deal breaker of settling in is to find the perfect High school for our son. Once we find that than we know for sure where we want to call home permanently. We are coming from Ventura Ca. any ideas on great communities?

Where in Texas are you planning on moving? I have some suggestions if it's the Austin area. I live in SW Austin, and we are planning on relocating in the area specifically for schools. Our number one choice is a neighborhood called Circle C. It's very family oriented, has great amenities, great schools, etc. It goes to Bowie High School in Austin ISD. Another nearby community I've been interested in is Belterra in Dripping Springs ISD (Goes to Dripping Springs High School). If you want something a little cheaper, try Plum Creek in Kyle (Hays High School). I don't know north Austin very well, but Cedar Park seems to be a nice place with good schools that isn't too expensive. Cedar Park High School has great ratings/reviews.

I agree with forbiddendonut..there are some great communities in SW Austin (As well as schools). But Round Rock ISD has some amazing magnet schools as well. In the end it's all about what you are looking for in a "perfect" high school. Check out the newest free publication in Austin - School Choice magazine. It includes a K-12 private and independent school guide with over 30 schools.
