The teachers, counselor, principal and aides are loving, dedicated individuals who seek to get the best out of every student. Teachers purchased the latest copy of Harry Potter for a student who could not afford it, but is an avid reader. This is not unusual for the teachers here because so many of our students are living at or below the poverty line.
First off, the part of the facilities that are for elementary students are in pitiful shape. Students in K-1 are not up to level with schools from around the area. They leave kindergarten not knowing how to read only to go to 1st and be allowed to play games or have recess. Finally, teachers in 2-6 have to refer students to special ed because they are behind. Lots of teacher experience but most are only there for the paycheck.
