For my wife and me, Fletcher School has been like an "oasis in the desert." The dedication that the teachers have to do their jobs has meant that children have an exceptional performance. With pride and work achieved national Blue Ribbon distinction and maintains the level of Excellence in the school district and state levels. The work currently carried out, both the principal and teachers, just the goal of achieving the "best of the best". Very good school and excellent staff.
Fletcher is the best school your child could ever attend to. The new principle is great but in the past it was the worst. The teachers make sure your child succeeds.
This is a great school. Children get an education that shows in the TAKS scores. Leadership is weak, but the teachers make up the difference.
I have three children that has attended Fletcher Elementary. My oldest is in college, my second is a junior in high school, and my youngest is in Kinder. My two odlest children left fletcher and went on to do very well both academically and socially. My youngest has made leaps and bounds in reading, math, and writing this year in kinder. Although the school is majority Hispanic, my African American children have been served well by this school since spanish is only spoken in the bilingual classes. Fletcher has continued to push for academic excelence. In the past two years or so, I think they have dropped the ball on special programs. I hope to see more in the area of special programs in the years to come.
The educational programs at Fletcher Elementary School are great. Although there are some good teachers, the over all quality of instruction is very poor. I have walked the hallways on several occasions and different times of the day and found the teachers to be short tempered. For a child that needs nurturing and special attention there are not very many programs offered. Because of the spanish majority in the school zone, the student almost always has to speak spanish to excel. Teaching a kindergardener spanish when she does not know all of english alphabet or how to pronounce the english alphabet causes confusion in the non spanish speaking children. I would not give a strong recommendation for this school to any parent.
