This is by far the worst school any of my kids have ever attended.Teachers who are coaches for the most part are not really teaching, they are too busy looking at video of previous games preparing for upcoming games. A few teachers seem to be a bit burned out and their attitude is very lacking. The approach/teaching style some teachers use will never create a successful student. There are a handful of teachers who truly care and teach well to be fair. The school is run according to the "local buddy system" of about 3 generations of original locals. Rules are broken, punishment not given due to who you or the family is in the town, even very serious issues are overlooked. If your child is part of that group or a "jock", they have it made. They are given carte blanche to do as they please. And like most Texas school, football supersedes over all else, too bad education doesn't. Until this town grows..and by grows I mean that the population is increased enough to remove the buddy system in the district and business community, there will always be GREAT room for improvement. One day they will grown and be a real town/school and be successful and compliment worthy.
I love BRISD. We have been in Garland and Wylie ISDs. If you like for your kids to be known for their own strengths and weaknesses, to be known by all by name, to be more than just another number.... your child belongs here.
I cannot say enough good things about BRISD. I know just how hard the staff and administration are working to improve academics. Campus ratings are up and rising with each year. I have seen first hand that the teachers and principals will take the time to talk to me and help my child. They truly believe in kids in Blue Ridge.
Blue Ridge Middle School has a group of compassionate student-centered educators. I appreciated the teachers as my child received his education on this campus. He was always successful in the classroom and on all state assessments. Thank you, Blue Ridge teachers and administrators for a super campus.
