My children have all went through the Bonham ISD school system and overall I think it is a great school with good teachers who care and want our students to be successful. Our administration is working really hard to turn things around, yes it is slow but progress takes awhile. I really think our parents need to be more supportative of the school and quit being so negative to change!!

cont...A Thank You to the teachers and staff for trying to make a difference its not an easy task. Maybe with help from parents who actually care and not complain we will make a difference...

The principal is not very effective. Majority of the teachers seem to be the only ones they can get, because they're undesirables, that can't get a job anyplace else. The courses offered do not encourage college bound, is very limited and simple courses. As far as extracurricular activities, most of it surrounds the football team and little else.

My son is a junior at Bonham High School this year. He is in some Resource Classes and is doing very well. I feel that each of his teachers have done a great job of helping him understand the class work. He wants to go to college! His report card is a great example of the success he has made and has given him the utmost confidence to try most anything.

Bonham H.S. offers plenty in the academic department if the student is willing to work hard. Sport activities are good but the boys are valued above the girls activities. Though, there are music and theatre programs, this school system seems to value sports above all else. The teachers are great for the most part.

As a teacher at this school, I am very interested in the comment this parent had to say and how, we at BHS, could use this information in a positive manner to better do our jobs.

This school is filled with low-quality teachers, [with some exceptions] simple academics far behind the difficulty and complexity of most high school campuses, and undriven, low-performing students. The administration has lacked an effective leader for the past 10 years. The superintendant is working hard to turn things around, but it will be at least 10 years before those changes reach the high school.
