Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

The current superintendent and principal have ruined this school. SUperintendent is out of touch with the reality of the student demographs and thinks he is at a big 5A school. There is a serious lack of discipline and staff expectations are outrageous. That's why superintendent has had a 90% staff turnover EVERY year in his 3 years here. One teacher was super-glued to a desk and another teacher was backed by students into a corner and nothing was done!! The kids here are out of control, students often joke about the principal and her lack of discpline. Students and staff go anywhere else!

Completely unsupportive administration, students are out of control because the administration doesn't enforce discipline whatsoever, teachers are constantly being put down -so why would we be successful? Administration has its flaws, yes, but what's worse is the lack of parent involvement in this town. Parents don't have a true respect for education so students aren't reaching their maximum potential. Teachers can only do so much people! The athletic program is ridiculous. Students aren't expected to perform at their best in practice and during competition. Overall-not a good place to live or work in. I highly recommend going elsewhere.

I like the small town community of the school. Where every one knows each other and its like a family.

Small rural school in decline. New Superintendent and Principal brought in to enforce discipline, manage the school deficit, impose fiscal austerity and streamline costs. Don't expect visionary teaching or moral leadership. When it comes to recruiting talent, we're talking about hiring football coaches and bus drivers.

Buckholts ISD is a nice school, but very old, run down, and in need for a makeover. The staff is very friendly and encourages the students to be the best they can be. There is nothing wrong with the school and I love being a student here.

This school isn't being run in the ground by the superintendent nor the principal. This school was overspending for many years, and the school board elected new teaching material. The superintendent, and the principal have done nothing but try to get Buckholts back on track. This school was struggling before, and it takes a strong superintendent & principal to return it to the great order that it once was. Most people do not like change, and that's ok, but they have todo what is best for the kids. Instead of blaming the town needs to pull together & work together. Parents, teachers, administration, & towns people. I surely hope they can get on the same page quickly, as they hurt no one but the kids :) The staff is AMAZING including the administration, and Buckholts is an amazing town! I really believe that the teaching staff is new, and with time they will get better, but the teachers themselves are great. The Principal is sticking to her guns, and leading the way {great job}, and parents...I wish we all could be more involved, and start a PTA.

This school is small just like the town. Many people feel they must have their children in a bigger, better school. We have three children, one graduated already, in college had working. The other two are in school, there have been several students who do very well graduating from BISD. Texas ATM graduates, university of Texas graduates, UMHB, Baylor Texas Tech. With that said, plenty have graduated and decided to become a part of the workforce. As in any school, you get out of it what you put into it... Otherwise those bigger school would graduate only college prep students and they do not. Not trying to sell this campus, it's not for everyone, but it's exactly what my kids needed. Current college student A-B student. The reason for three stars instead of four? Simple nobody is perfect.

Buckholts ISD is a small, hometown community with a warm caring atmosphere. The teachers are dedicated to the students.
