My daughter just finished pre-k at the Brook Hill and we have just completed enrollment for next year. To sum it up -- the school is AWESOME. My daughter has learned SO much this year. The teachers are excellent and the academic program is challenging. My only complaint would be that not ALL of the mother's are friendly, but I can live with that considering the quality of education my daughter receives. It DOES GET EXPENSIVE -- but I would say it is worth it in the long run.
This was our first year at Brook Hill elementary. We came from another private school in Tyler. The school is top notched and excellent. Our daughter has thrived in this environment. She made straight A's and we were glad to see the excellence in academics and extracurricular. Yes there is alot of homework but this is to better prepare them for college. We found the teachers and staff exceptional. The only areas to improve upon would be more emphasis on a few of the other subjects such as social studies but overall I would give them an A and high recommend this school to parents who want their children to learn in a competitive environment.
This is our fifth year at Brook Hill and our last. We've tried to give them every opportunity to make the improvements that we believe are vital to their continued success as a private Christian school, but clearly nothing is going to change. As educators ourselves, we know what makes up a successful school. Brook Hill can boast very few of those things. The students are expected to fit into the mold set forth as satisfactory, and kids who don't fit the profile for a Brook Hill kid are left by the wayside. Many of the teachers believe that passing out worksheets equates with good teaching, and more and more we have come to see that money talks. Teachers play favorites, and there is no support from the administration whatsoever. We're done. Anyone looking for a positive Christian, strong academic program should keep looking. You won't find it at Brook Hill.
Our son is going to Brook Hill since the 6 th grade and he is now in 8th. Even though it's an excellent school I feel there is not much individual attention given for a student who might struggle with a certain subject. It's a swim or drown mentality, and I'm a bit afraid of what will happen in high school when the demands are higher with more tests and homework. Some teachers care but some don't. Children are individuals who learn differently from one another but at Brook Hill they are all put in the same category.
We started at Brook Hill when our son was in the 2nd grade. He in now in 6th and we could not be more happy. The teachers and staff are first class. There is a lot of daily work for the students, but in our opinion that is what a college prep school should do.
I have had three children at the Brook Hill school for over 4 years now. When we first came to BH it was excellent, but by High School it has become increasingly more demanding and the students are not encouraged to suceed in areas that they have strengths. The Administration trys to put them all in a box , the same box. My children have been in christian schools since kindergarten, in different states and cities. So we have had a fair amount to compare. Brook Hill needs to just be a college preperatory school. The 'Christian ' aspect of the learning foundation is a joke! I have experienced several situations in which the school had the opportunity in which to do the right thing, and teach by example. Stand for what is right not for what was convienent. Most parents don't really have a clue what really goes on .
The Brook Hill School supports all students and nourishes their minds and souls with positive persuasion.
We have two children attending The Brook Hill School and our third will begin next year. Our family could not be more pleased with quality education and character of The Brook Hill School.
I moved to the tyler area for my freshman year coming from a public school. With one day of visiting I was ready to start. The students are welcoming and the teachers make you want to learn and participate. My favorite happens to be Mr. Kent Travis, who made me a much better student and made me become intrested in english and logic.
I selected BH for it's low teacher:student ratio in Kindergarten. Our son has just 13 kids in his class + a full-time teacher's aide. 1 adult per 7 kids is amazing. He loves his music, art, spanish, PE, library and science classes. He's reading well and we are thrilled. The facility is top-notch and the teachers are warm and caring.
