My daughter started attending Hughes since we relocated in Spring of 2006. The school seems to be run more like a child prison than a school. I have talked with many parents in regards to the poor leadership at this school and have the same feed back. My child is in mostly AP classes with excellent grades. I can't imagine how difficult it would be for parents with children who are struggling. I feel Hughes works AGAINST parents and not with parents. Too many problems too list. Fortunately, the principal will be retiring after this year and the parents and staff are anxiously awaiting. There is hope for Hughes!
I really do think the teachers and staff care about our children. My child just started ad Hughes las December after having relocated from california and he had a few problems adjusting tothe pre-ap classes, all three of his teacher communicated w/me by e-mail and phone and together we brought him back to straight A's by the years end. After seeing yesterdays turn out it's obvious that this community also cares enough to be involved and together we make our children's learning experience a great one! Thanks Hughes Middle School
This school is the best school ever. The teachers are nice the kids are awesome. I love Hughes!
All three of my children attended Hughes Middle School and each year was filled with fun and great learning experiences. HMS is a wonderful school! The teachers go out of their way to help their students and to communicate with parents. Thanks to Hughes for making the middle school years a great experience for my kids!
I feel that the teachers do not go out of their way to communicate with the parents. My child has failed 3 classes and must go to summer school to be promoted to the next grade. I did recieve 3 progress reports the last school year, informing me about my childs low grades but no suggestions on what to do about bringing the grades up. I repeatedly ask my child to bring home school books so I could help him and was told they only had 'class-sets', so he could not bring anything home. So,no,I am not impressed with Hughes Middle School.
So far from the start of the school year I do so far see the principal involved with every activity, I so hope this will continue. The teacher's all go out of their way to keep the parent involvement know.
