There's so much DRAMA at Holy Cross Christian Academy!! It's so bad a "B" rated soap-opera would turn down the script. Academics: We moved from another state, and my child was SO much farther ahead when compared with the classmates! And, a few of the other 'new' parents noticed the same thing, so I don't think it's related to just one grade or one teacher. Unfortunately it might be a bit 'across-the-board'. Drama: The staff, leadership, and faculty at Holy Cross somehow feel that it's their "Holy?", "Self-Righteous?", "God-Appointed?" duty to come to whatever conclusion they want ~ about ANYTHING! ...and then as a parent, it's now your job to defend their conclusion. No matter what you do, understand that you WILL be wrong. And the drama portion of Holy Cross will leave you stunned at just how many people are now "all-up-in" your drama. One faculty member's conclusion 'surely' a.)must be right, b.)must be adopted by other faculty and/or parents c.) You, the parent must somehow realize that your kids will suffer. Don't send your kids to Holy Cross. At the end, your children will wind up having to leave, find new friends, and you will be bewildered at what just happened.

Holy Cross is great school, they have hard-working teacher, smart kids, and a great education. I love Holy Cross. It get you ready to be a Christian Leader and when you leave holy cross, you will be ready to go to public and i have christian leader in you. I go to holy cross right now and i am student there and it was the best choice to there. I hope that there will more students and i would love to have more kids come here. You will never think it was a bad choice. Kids should go to Holy Cross

As a former student at Holy Cross Christian Academy, I would love to give the school 5 stars! I believe it is a wonderful place to help give EVERY child a well-rounded education. I moved on to my next school (because I was older than the grade levels offered) that I attended and not only had an above average education as well as morals that I would not have learned in a public school atmosphere. The chapel experience is something I think everyone should experience. I had many close knit friends who I still keep in touch with and I have now graduated from college. This school and its educators made an impact on me that I will never forget! THANK YOU FOR THAT!!!

We could not have asked for a better first year of school for our son. The kindergarten teacher is absolutely outstanding and she created such special bonds with each of her students. She took the time to come to his baseball games and that truly meant the world to him. We will forever be grateful for HCCA

This was our first year at HCCA and could not be more pleased. This school is so much more than I could have expected. The Kindergarden teacher is the best any child could be blessed to have . She may only have them for 3 hrs and 15 min but during that time they learn more than you could imagine. She works the lessons into every aspect of their day. She has been teaching for 20+ years and lives and breathes HCCA. Many times I would call or text her and she would be at the school till late into the night. That dedication shows in what all my daughter has learned. One of the things I loved so much about this school is the communication between the teachers, staff, and parents. I received an email every week telling me what was going on the next week. They take the time to teach your child about life skills, critical thinking, and problem solving. Chapel everyday may only be 15 minutes, but it is a powerful 15 minutes. My daughter came home everyday talking about what book they were studying and reciting verses. I know that sending my daughter here was the best decision we could have ever made. I know that, because of this school she has had the best start to her education possible.

Although my child wasn't "barred" from reenrollment. My child was referred to a different school due the ADHD by the kindergarten teacher. We switched schools.

As a former kindergarten teacher, I prayed my daughter would have a teacher that enjoyed her job & loved her kids as much as I did mine. The kindergarten teacher at HCCA PUT ME TO SHAME!!!!! IT'S SO HARD TO FIND THE WORDS TO EXPRESS HOW TRULY DEDICATED, LOVING, & COMMITTED TO HER STUDENTS SHE IS!!! I have taught in 4 different districts with some outstanding teachers, but I've never seen anything like her before! As the previous parent stated, the list goes on & on of AMAZING things she does with & for her students! Not only did my daughter learn so very much academically, she grew emotionally beyond my greatest expectations! The kindergarten teacher also supported my daughter & my family through some extremely difficult personal issues. I THANK GOD FOR THE KINDERGARTEN TEACHER & FOR HCCA!

I disagree with "a parent who posted on June 30". I also have a child who has been diagnosed with ADHD and the kindergarten teacher was completely supportive and provided advice. I have never met a teacher who gives more of their personal time to the children in their class - year after year. A child will always remember that their kindergarten teacher came to their home to read him a bedtime story and tuck him in, that she came to their sporting event, dance recital, or cheering at a Pop Warner football game. When they are graduating from high school and they look at the scrapbook she made for them with individual pictures of their first day of school, career day of what they wanted to be when they grow up, the tea party at the teachers home, performing at the Hallelujah Hop, & the pages go on & on. These memories are priceless and this teacher pays for these things out of her own pocket to enhance the experience. The kindergarten teacher is amazing and will provide an education to your child where they will be wanting to come to school because of the caring and fun learning atmosphere. HCCA is an outstanding school to send your child for all of their K-8 years!

My oldest child is a recent graduate of Holy Cross. She has been well prepared for everything that will follow with strong academic skills and a strong spiritual base. Our children have had (and continue to have) teachers and administrators who go above and beyond for them. The academics are challenging and the teachers care about helping every student succeed. Our family is blessed by this school!

All three of my sons went to Holy Cross, and I can not express how grateful I am to all the teachers and the administrator for all the ways they have blessed my childrens lives. Not only did they receive an excellent education, but they were given the confidence to speak in front of a group of people and the character to be good examples to their peers. You could not find a more loving or supportative environment for your child.

I am a former public school employee and the mother of two girls (4th and 2nd grades) and I HIGHLY recommend HCCA. HCCA is an exceptional place where students are taught not only about the amazing world that God created, but also about who He is and how He works in the lives of His servants. Chapel is a daily part of the routine and the truth of God's word is interwoven throughout the curriculum. Students are treated as unique, valuable creations of God. Numerous special activities throughout the year contribute to the 'family' feeling of this campus. Tuition is very reasonable for the quality of education and the positive, supportive environment maintained by a team of extremely dedicated teachers and staff members. If you are looking for the best education in the best environment for your child(ren), then you should definitely consider HCCA.

My family and I have been a part of Holy Cross Christian Academy for 18 years. As a parent and staff member, our family has been blessed immeasurably by this school, it's staff and families. My wish is that every child would be able to attend our school, receiving a wonderful education in a loving, Christian environment. Visitors are always welcome. I hope you have an opportunity to come by and experience it for yourself. Mary & Steve Samuel

What a amazing school! We started our oldest child in kindergarten with the mindset that we would "give it a year" and see what we think. We were blown away with the experience! We absolutely adored the teacher and couldn't believe the way she brought the curriculum to life! Needless to say, we are still attending Holy Cross years later and have also started sending our daughter. The staff is incredible. The academics are fantastic. It is obvious they are working very hard to develop the whole child while sharing God's love with both the families and community. Can't imagine sending my children anywhere else!

HCCA feels the only child that deserves a Christian education are the easy to teach. The kindergarten class is also more of a co-teaching experience. As a parent you will have to assist in the teaching of your child immensely. Most activities are done during the day and would require you to take off on average 2-3 times a month or miss the production/party. The day is 3 hours long which includes a snack time, recess, chapel and centers. Centers being basically free playtime in the classroom. The amount of actual teaching being done warrants help from home. I would not recommend this school to full time working parents of a kindergarten aged pupil. My child has been diagnosed with add and was barred from reenrollment to the school. I have talked to other parents with similar experiences with the Kindergarten teacher. From them it seems she does this yearly and has no problem referring children out of the school. As a teacher she is not versatile and quick to blame the students for her lack of ability. She also missed over 30 days of school and left her aid to do the teaching.

This school is a hidden gem! I'm so impressed with the academics, the teaching staff, the variety of subjects covered in the advanced curriculum, the field trips, the community service projects, and so much more. They offer Tennis, Track and Volleyball starting in the early grades, too. The school's motto is "The Best Education, The Best Environment" and they are outdoing themselves in providing the best of both for my daughter (3rd grade). Beyond the stellar, challenging academics (which are on par with or even slightly ahead of other major D/FW private schools that charge $10,000 - $15,000 more per year), HCCA offers Character Classes once a week, and my child has the opportunity to learn and grow spiritually as she builds her own relationship with God. I am so thankful that we found HCCA!

Holy Cross strives each year to improve in the quality of educational services that they offer their students and families. Its emphasis on biblical principles, melded with strong educational practrices, makes it one of the premier schools in the area. On average, the current teaching staff has been with the school for 5 years. That range extends from some teachers who have been there as long as 19 years and some who have been there only 1 year. As the school grows, the teaching staff has doubled over the last 5 years. Holy Cross is committed to providing the best education in the best environment.

My child attended HCCA for several years, we did not return. Some of the faculty is wonderful while others seem to dislike their job. The administration sits back and chooses to do nothing when real problems exist. The school has the potential to be good but there is a lot of teacher turn over and from what we have seen the upper school has many problems.

This is my first year to be associated with HCCA. My oldest daughter is in Kindergarten. My wife has taught in Texas public schools for over 20 years. I can say with some authority that HCCA is exceptional in its academic, administrative, and disciplinary standards and achievement. The attitude of each member of their faculty and staff is one of dedication and commitment to excellence. HCCA is the genuine article. The interaction I've had personally with the faculty and staff has been honest, caring, and professional. I'm very grateful that we made the decision to place our child in their hands.

Holy Cross is a refreshing breath of air, where you find nothing common among students, teachers and studies. It brings not only a higher standard of teaching to the table but it allows Jesus to sit at that table with them. It is what every parent dreams about for their children and Holy Cross has made that a reality.

Holy Cross is the best school at a great price. My kindergartener is writing his full name and is learning to read. That is not even the best part. He loves doing it! He is so excited to go to school each day. His teacher is creative, energetic, and innovative. I assure you you will not regret placing your child at Holy Cross Christian Academy.

Holy Cross is an excellent place for my child. He has excelled in every aspect. Having one that went to public school and now being blessed to have one at Holy Cross I can say there is no comparison. We had good teachers in public school, but the love, the devotion, the christian atmosphere is beyond words. Each child is expected to stretch to his capabilities not just those that can't pass a 'TAKS' test. My son was reading books before the first 6 weeks of kindergarten and the hands on science experiments, art projects and field trips are well beyond anything we've seen in public school. Top notch education!

Unfortunately, we cannot trust the public school system to have our childrens best interest at heart. This is an outstanding Christian School that understands that God must come first in everything that we do. The teachers and the education administrator are outstanding and my children absolutely love going to school and they amaze me every day with how much they can learn when they are in the proper environment.

My daughter is in kindergarden. This is our first year here. I love the school. They do so many field trips, projects, plays. We are encouraged to attend and help out. Its a great ratio student to teacher. I really feel like she is getting the best one on one attention. The school has a great family atomsphere. Since we have started in August I have seen such a change in my daughter. This is a wonderful enviroment for my child.

I knew about the kindergarten teacher before the school moved to the new location. God opened a door for my daughter to go to Holy Cross for kindergarten. I was amazed at the amount of activities, field trips, and hands on learning available. I was allowed and encouraged to attend all of them! The teachers go above and beyong their call of duty. They love these kids like they are their own family. I would say the only draw back is the amount of fundraising. It gets old. I would highly reccommend this school to anyone looking for a loving Christian atmosphere, and a great learning environment for their children.

I never imagined my daughter could love school so much and do so well! The teachers truely love the children and go so far beyond what is expected of them. When your childs teacher shows up at their sporting events on the weekend, using their personal time to cheer for them you cant help but see how much they support and encourage your child. What a love of the God they have and share with the students. I know my daughter loves starting out the day in chapel. They not only sing and praise the Lord, but they always leave with a message from the Bible and a smile on their face! Who couldnt excel in the wonderful enviornment these children learn in!

Holy Cross is reasonably priced, with a loving, nurturing christian environment. The staff is very dedicated to children. My girls are well rounded with female christian mentors, social activities, cool field trips, and awesome performances in music and a passionate talented art teacher. Great before/after school program for working parents.

Holy Cross is the most loving and nurturing environment I can imagine for my children. We have been at this school for many years, and hope to be for a few more! The teachers we have had have gone so far above and beyond expectations in every aspect. They challenge my son, which can be hard to do. There really is no area that I consider to be lacking. Great school, highly recommend!!

The previous comments are from Holy Cross Episcopal Day School. In Fall 2005, the Episcopal church was shutdown, and the school was re-born as 'Holy Cross Christian Academy'. New administration has been put in place and the issues from previous posts have been addressed. The teaching staff that is in place is probably the best ever. The school is now independent of a specific church and thus not driven by a church board, but by a school board comprised of concerned parents. The school has its own building, and is providing elective type classes, such as computer, art, music, and PE. The kids are competing in local competitions such as spelling-bees, math olympics, and soon in a science fair. The school has regained its focus on a 'Christ Centered Education', making Chapel an essential part of the day, and truly a time of worship. It's now the best education in Burleson!

I have 3 children, one in 2nd grade, one in kindergarten, and one not yet school age. The situation was very political last year but that has been resolved. We lost a couple of teachers and a few students and I am sorry to see them go - but that is life - change happens. The only issue I had is in the Extracurricular activities - but this can be handled out side of school and may very well be the best way. As for the environment - it is very Christ-centered. The new administrator is an awesome lady and the teachers are great as well. The kindergarten program is the entire reason my sons attend this school. Mrs. Mateka (sp) and Mrs. Woody are two of the most caring and loving teachers a child will ever have in their education career. I highly recommend Holy Cross for your child's education!

Holy Cross is a wonderful school that not only teaches academics but God's word. My child is in Pre-K 4 yr. old class and was tested by a diagnostician. My son is academically advanced by two years. This I know is due to Holy Cross. The teachers are caring. With hands on teaching, and more one on one time, than you would get out of a bigger school. I love Holy Cross and plan to keep my son there for as long as I can.

This school has been the best for my kids. They have gone there for the past 7 years and you could not have asked for a better education or for better teachers. They care so much for your kids the teachers are like a second mom to your kids. I am very protective of my kids and I always worried about them being left in a strangers hands up until the day I left my kids with Mrs. Fitzgerald for the first time. I am a stay at home mom and my kids have never seen a daycare or a babysitter in their lives. And I still to this day would never move my kids to another school and if for some reason they could not go there any more I would have to home school. There is so much love here and the best educated teachers.

'This school is, without a doubt, Burleson's best kept secret. My children have been there now for three years and it has been one of the most enriching, spiritual and rewarding experience I could ever imagine for my children. They have outstanding academics, outstanding teachers and new leadership making some well needed changes; but the most important aspect this school has is its Christian philosophy. You can witness that in every moment of every day of your child's education. To me, that's what it's really all about. Every school has it's attributes, I just feel nothing even comes close to comparing in the area. They are beginning with middle school in Fall 2005, which is a huge step in the right direction. Burleson needs this! Holy Cross takes learning beyond measures, caring beyond compassion and puts Christianity in the forefront. Choosing a school is tough, Holy Cross just makes it easier!'

We have attended Holy Cross for a few years and have seen it decline academically and structurally. It is definitely not a Christian environment. There is a great political undertow where children can visibly see torment and conflicts between the parents and the staff. The curriculum is Abeka and is wonderful. Most of the great teachers have been driven out of Holy Cross due to poor board direction and political endeavors. I would not recommend Holy Cross due to the state of conflict and parental political determent. It use to be a great school and environment. What a shame it has been denounced to it current state.
