This school is a hidden gem! I'm so impressed with the academics, the teaching staff, the variety of subjects covered in the advanced curriculum, the field trips, the community service projects, and so much more. They offer Tennis, Track and Volleyball starting in the early grades, too. The school's motto is "The Best Education, The Best Environment" and they are outdoing themselves in providing the best of both for my daughter (3rd grade). Beyond the stellar, challenging academics (which are on par with or even slightly ahead of other major D/FW private schools that charge $10,000 - $15,000 more per year), HCCA offers Character Classes once a week, and my child has the opportunity to learn and grow spiritually as she builds her own relationship with God. I am so thankful that we found HCCA!

Holy Cross strives each year to improve in the quality of educational services that they offer their students and families. Its emphasis on biblical principles, melded with strong educational practrices, makes it one of the premier schools in the area. On average, the current teaching staff has been with the school for 5 years. That range extends from some teachers who have been there as long as 19 years and some who have been there only 1 year. As the school grows, the teaching staff has doubled over the last 5 years. Holy Cross is committed to providing the best education in the best environment.

My child attended HCCA for several years, we did not return. Some of the faculty is wonderful while others seem to dislike their job. The administration sits back and chooses to do nothing when real problems exist. The school has the potential to be good but there is a lot of teacher turn over and from what we have seen the upper school has many problems.

This is my first year to be associated with HCCA. My oldest daughter is in Kindergarten. My wife has taught in Texas public schools for over 20 years. I can say with some authority that HCCA is exceptional in its academic, administrative, and disciplinary standards and achievement. The attitude of each member of their faculty and staff is one of dedication and commitment to excellence. HCCA is the genuine article. The interaction I've had personally with the faculty and staff has been honest, caring, and professional. I'm very grateful that we made the decision to place our child in their hands.

Holy Cross is a refreshing breath of air, where you find nothing common among students, teachers and studies. It brings not only a higher standard of teaching to the table but it allows Jesus to sit at that table with them. It is what every parent dreams about for their children and Holy Cross has made that a reality.

Great school--they actually teach children the basic's reading--writting--math and not just how to pass the goverments test.

Holy Cross is the best school at a great price. My kindergartener is writing his full name and is learning to read. That is not even the best part. He loves doing it! He is so excited to go to school each day. His teacher is creative, energetic, and innovative. I assure you you will not regret placing your child at Holy Cross Christian Academy.

Holy Cross is an excellent place for my child. He has excelled in every aspect. Having one that went to public school and now being blessed to have one at Holy Cross I can say there is no comparison. We had good teachers in public school, but the love, the devotion, the christian atmosphere is beyond words. Each child is expected to stretch to his capabilities not just those that can't pass a 'TAKS' test. My son was reading books before the first 6 weeks of kindergarten and the hands on science experiments, art projects and field trips are well beyond anything we've seen in public school. Top notch education!

I love Holy Cross! The teachers are awesome, and chapel is the best part of my day. It is a great place for kids.

Unfortunately, we cannot trust the public school system to have our childrens best interest at heart. This is an outstanding Christian School that understands that God must come first in everything that we do. The teachers and the education administrator are outstanding and my children absolutely love going to school and they amaze me every day with how much they can learn when they are in the proper environment.

My daughter is in kindergarden. This is our first year here. I love the school. They do so many field trips, projects, plays. We are encouraged to attend and help out. Its a great ratio student to teacher. I really feel like she is getting the best one on one attention. The school has a great family atomsphere. Since we have started in August I have seen such a change in my daughter. This is a wonderful enviroment for my child.

I knew about the kindergarten teacher before the school moved to the new location. God opened a door for my daughter to go to Holy Cross for kindergarten. I was amazed at the amount of activities, field trips, and hands on learning available. I was allowed and encouraged to attend all of them! The teachers go above and beyong their call of duty. They love these kids like they are their own family. I would say the only draw back is the amount of fundraising. It gets old. I would highly reccommend this school to anyone looking for a loving Christian atmosphere, and a great learning environment for their children.

I never imagined my daughter could love school so much and do so well! The teachers truely love the children and go so far beyond what is expected of them. When your childs teacher shows up at their sporting events on the weekend, using their personal time to cheer for them you cant help but see how much they support and encourage your child. What a love of the God they have and share with the students. I know my daughter loves starting out the day in chapel. They not only sing and praise the Lord, but they always leave with a message from the Bible and a smile on their face! Who couldnt excel in the wonderful enviornment these children learn in!

Holy Cross is reasonably priced, with a loving, nurturing christian environment. The staff is very dedicated to children. My girls are well rounded with female christian mentors, social activities, cool field trips, and awesome performances in music and a passionate talented art teacher. Great before/after school program for working parents.

Holy Cross is the most loving and nurturing environment I can imagine for my children. We have been at this school for many years, and hope to be for a few more! The teachers we have had have gone so far above and beyond expectations in every aspect. They challenge my son, which can be hard to do. There really is no area that I consider to be lacking. Great school, highly recommend!!

A terrific little Christian school with no denominational ties. It has great teachers and a nurturing environment.

The previous comments are from Holy Cross Episcopal Day School. In Fall 2005, the Episcopal church was shutdown, and the school was re-born as 'Holy Cross Christian Academy'. New administration has been put in place and the issues from previous posts have been addressed. The teaching staff that is in place is probably the best ever. The school is now independent of a specific church and thus not driven by a church board, but by a school board comprised of concerned parents. The school has its own building, and is providing elective type classes, such as computer, art, music, and PE. The kids are competing in local competitions such as spelling-bees, math olympics, and soon in a science fair. The school has regained its focus on a 'Christ Centered Education', making Chapel an essential part of the day, and truly a time of worship. It's now the best education in Burleson!

Holy Cross attended a couple of years. Great in the pre-k to 1st grade. Lacking stability in the upper grades with teacher turn over.

I have 3 children, one in 2nd grade, one in kindergarten, and one not yet school age. The situation was very political last year but that has been resolved. We lost a couple of teachers and a few students and I am sorry to see them go - but that is life - change happens. The only issue I had is in the Extracurricular activities - but this can be handled out side of school and may very well be the best way. As for the environment - it is very Christ-centered. The new administrator is an awesome lady and the teachers are great as well. The kindergarten program is the entire reason my sons attend this school. Mrs. Mateka (sp) and Mrs. Woody are two of the most caring and loving teachers a child will ever have in their education career. I highly recommend Holy Cross for your child's education!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
