My four children have attended Bushland Elementary for the last 4 years and have loved it. There is a new principal, Mrs. Morgan, who is a former teacher. She is wonderful and always has time to listen to your concerns and act quickly. The teachers are wonderful, especially Mrs. Massey, first grade. There is tremendous parent involvement which is welcome and encouraged. The only negative thing I can say is the cafeteria is poorly managed.

We move every two years and while we thought this school would be a well-rounded environment for our child we have since found it lacking. The principal and superintendent choose to ignore concerns and the staff is at best average. They do not feel a need to push the children and prefer to watch them slide by. It is a school with too much growth and little desire to change. It is a failure in our opinion.

Having two of our eldest sons go through the Bushland School system, I can attest it to be academically superior; however, I believe the Elementary School principal (Ms. Rhoades)opts to shun her responsibility to comply with school district policy concerning the utilization of 'corporal punishment', in that her personal belief is against such. As parents of three sons, we know in the progression of discipline sometimes this type punishment is necessary to promote the seriousness of misbehavior and to impress upon the child the need to 'make good choices', and to reinforce the need for lesser types of punishment to have the proper cause/effect in helping the student of your school district realize the importance of obeying rules, orders and regulations.
