Great teachers, principal, but not enough sporting events to choose from.

We recently moved to Canyon in 2004. Academics are well above most districts. I am very pleased with the advancement of my children. Although if you are not a native to Canyon forget about participating in extra curricular activities. You will be reminded that you are not part of their community.

I think that Canyon high school is a great school to attend in general. There are no major safety issues or gang related activities. The quality of education is great for the middle 50%, but for the top and bottom tiers, not so good. The school lacks high educational standards for the students that are in higher level courses such as AP and duel credit. Although duel credit classes are a step in the right direction. The advanced course teachers don't really hold students accountable for really learning the material giving students many opportunities to make the A in the class even though one didn't really earn it. As a former student I know I was not very well prepared for university level courses even though I was in all AP classes while I was there and finished in the top 10% of my class.
