The principal is engaged with all aspects of learning at this school, from the classroom to parent involvement, she is striving to make the middle school experience the best it can possibly be for each child. Where there have been issues with staff, she immediately addressed them when appropriate. Not all teachers have been "perfect" but that is true of any school - what we have found is that the teachers and staff are committed and do encourage high performance from the kiddos (sometimes almost too much). For a middle school there is a nice variety of course offerings, including Pre AP and early High School credit, and the extra curricular options are great (everything from archery to soccer) and also very successful in what they help the kids accomplish. We were nicely surprised at the strong parent involvement here which is not always the case in middle school. The student body is very diverse and that is a plus for us as it engages our children in a real world learning environment. The building is older and could use a few "touch ups" but besides that we found this to be an incredible experience (which is not an easy thing to say about the middle school years!)
ACMS is an outstanding school for students. Those who attend receive a quality education with ample opportunity for social interaction, adult guidance and mentoring, affective programs and positive peer relationships.
I am shocked to learn the great amount of difference allowed at this school from teachers that teach the same subjects. Emphasis is not placed on the subjects at hand. The teachers are very inconsistent with their teaching and this is well known by parents as well as students.
