We are new to the area and as soon as our Daughter walked through the doors her first day the bullying started and the school isnt going to do a thing about it. I know this because after speaking to the principal she just wants us to have a sit down with the principal. The same principal that walked by a student sitting in the hall that refused to do her work and all he said to her was not again.
One of the main reasons that this school has been found to be unsatisfactory by the State of Texas is: no matter how many times a student demonstrates bad behavior, they are never disciplined according to the very discipline plan this school (district) has written and claims to uphold. In short, the school is not only run by the students, it is run by the students with long histories of discipline problems. The principal and vice principal habitually take the student's or parent's side against the teachers - destroying teacher morale and causing a great amount of teacher turnover (some teachers even break their contracts to get away).
This is one of the finest schools I've ever taught, and I've taught in city schools & suburban schools, and a military overseas school. Yes, the pay is low, but the quality of the teachers and administration here is among the finest as it's like a family and the students are like 'our' kids. A great place for students.
