My children were enrolled in Comstock ISD for 4 years. both elementary. Unfortunately the standards of both curriculum and teacher quality has become steadily worse. Paying more attention to playing favorites on hiring inexperienced teachers and ignoring student problems we pulled our children from the district. I used to recommend this district over neighboring districts, but that has changed. Think twice before trying to enroll in this school.

Comstock ISD has been the safest, most nurturing learning environment that my children have had the privilege to experience. There are some things that must be sacrificed, but the rewards are worth it. Students have the community feel and the ability to participate in anything they want. The encouragement and the support is there for the kids. Every employee there is there for the kids, and it shows. I wish everyone could have such a pleasant experience as my children have had there.

I admit that there are minimal extra curricular activities and the teachers are the same at the secondary level. But it is a 'small' school. The majority of the students are from Del Rio and if they yearn for the vast number of activities and the availability to pick and choose teachers, then those can GO TO DEL RIO! For those parents that like the community feel and to have their child loved and nurtured, Comstock is the place to be. Keep in mind that it is a 'small' school and by choosing to send your kids their you are willing to sacrifice minor things to keep your child safe in a rewarding learning environment.

Very small school with small classes for a really great student/teacher ration, but their special education program is frustrating. I have to fight for everything my Autistic son receives. Also, they don't seem too concercned with preventing bullying--both my sons have had problems with that for the first time ever. Another concern is that each elementary grade only has one teacher, so if your child has an unsolvable problem with their teacher, there's no other teacher to transfer them to. But the principal and asst principal are very interested in helping out, which is nice. It's a nice little school in a very safe tiny town where you don't have to worry about your child riding their bike to school, unlike many places.
